I knew Kael’s order had been clear: avoid confrontations, rescue Lena, and get out. But now, with her standing in front of me, with that mocking gaze and her venom dripping from every word, how was I supposed to just turn around and leave? “Elise…” Lena leaned against me, her body trembling. Her voice didn’t come from her lips but from her mind, a broken whisper through the bond between our wolves. “Let her go. Let’s leave while we can.” I knew she was right. I knew the smartest thing to do was to get out before it was too late. But the rage burning in my chest was too strong. Morgana tilted her head, feigning curiosity. “What’s wrong?” Her tone was almost amused.
