I close my door and walk around the back of the Escalade. I see Jasper standing above Logan who is kneeling beside the rear right tire which seems to be no longer intact.
“So we got a flat?” How odd, I think to myself. The Escalade’s tires are huge, so something big must have punctured the tire.
Without looking away from the tire, Logan responds, “I thought I told you to stay put.”
“And you’ll learn very quickly that I do as I please.”
Logan growls, stands up and stands in front of me. “Watch how you speak to me. When I tell you to do something I expect you to listen and obey.”
I glare at Logan and cross my arms. “I am not some dog you can order around. I am your Luna, I should be by your side.”
I see a plethora of emotion on Logan’s face: anger, confusion then…pride? Logan sighs grabs my hand looks at me with adoration.
“That’s the first time you’ve accepted being my Luna.”
I can’t help but grin and squeeze my hand in his, “we’re in this together so don’t keep me out of the loop.” I step away from Logan and he reluctantly releases my hand as I lean over to see the damage of the tire.
Jasper sighs, “we’re going to have to walk the rest of the way.”
I look up at him then Logan, “walk?! Why? Don’t you have a spare tire?”
Jasper looks away, ashamed. “Well, no, we don’t actually.”
I huff in response and look again at the tire, “these tires are huge. What could have caused this kind of damage?”
Logan pulls my attention away from the tire. “Jasper’s right, we will have to walk from here.”
I look at Logan as if he’s crazy, “you can’t be serious. Why don’t the two of you just shift and I’ll ride on your back.”
Logan grins at me, “No. You’re not ready to see my wolf yet. But you must remain by my side at all times.”
I tighten my grip on Logan’s hand in frustration, “I’ll decide if I’m ready or not. Besides, won’t it be faster if you shift?”
“Technically yes, but my wolf is an Alpha. Once I shift, other wolves can sense my aura and they’ll be more inclined to attack. And I won’t have anything happen to you.”
“They? Who would want to attack us?”
I see Jasper open the trunk and take out a backpack and closes the trunk again. “This is unclaimed land so there’s a high probability we might encounter rogues.”
My heart skips a beat, “rogues? Maybe we should just call for help?”
Logan shakes his head, “we are still too far to mindlink my pack.”
“Don’t you have a cell phone?”
Logan and Jasper exchange a look before Logan shakes his head, “both mine and Jasper’s are dead.”
I suddenly wish I had my clutch. Oh my gosh, Lucy! “I need to call Lucy. She must be so worried about me, and I forgot my purse at the club.”
Logan places his hands on either side of my face, “Natalya, calm down. We’ll get through this. We aren’t exactly close to our border, but we aren’t far either, so I need you to relax. Just stay at my side and nothing will happen to you.” I nod my head and he drops his hands from my face; taking one of my hands in his, we start to walk further into the forest, with Jasper at our rear.
I’m not sure how long we’ve walked for, but my legs have started to feel sore. I don’t want to complain so I just keep pushing myself forward and try to get my mind off of it. The road ended a while ago so now we are trekking through the forest, Logan leading us forward and Jasper still behind us. Now that it is nighttime, the wildlife has made themselves present; whether it’s a frog croaking or an owl hooting or even the crickets chirping. I almost trip over a tree root but Logan keeps my steady.
“I’ve got you.”
I cling to Logan’s arm, “thanks.”
We continue to walk, and I can’t help but hold back a shiver. Logan looks over at me, “Are you cold?”
“Just a little bit.” With me just wearing my jeans and tank top I’ve been feeling the chill of the night for a while but didn’t want to any anything. It’s not like I have a jacket or anything since Logan just decided to bring me along. It’s definitely confusing…my feelings, if I can call them that, for Logan. On one hand, I am angry that he just decided to mark me and then take me to his pack. I have a life and I can’t just forget about that or my friends. But as soon as Logan looks at me or touches me, when he’s not angry, I feel like he grounds my emotions. Must be the damn mate bond messing with me. But on the other hand, I can’t help but feel excited and a thrill thinking about how werewolves actually exist. This is insane…
“Here, Luna. Take this.” Jasper opens the backpack and takes out a thermal jacket and hands it to me.
Instead of taking it from him right away, I glare at him. “You’ve had this the whole time?”
Jasper is hesitant, “Well, I didn’t exactly know what might or might not be in the backpack.”
“Why is that?” I take the jacket from him and put it on. It’s a few sizes too big; but I still zip it up and place my hands in the side pockets. It’s already warming me up so I don’t care how ridiculous I may look in it.
Logan looks me over with amusement in his eyes, “It’s a little big for you.”
“I’m well aware…” I glance from Logan to Jasper and then back at the jacket and then something occurs to me. If they are werewolves, then why even have a thermal jacket… “It isn’t yours…”
I see Jasper glance around nervously while Logan’s amusement fades into emotionless mask. “What?”
“This isn’t yours…The two of you wouldn’t need a jacket to stay warm. And since the backpack was in the vehicle back there, I can’t help but wonder if that’s even yours…”
“And if it isn’t?” Logan says with indifference.
“So what, you stole it?!” I ask incredulously.
“More like borrow?” Jasper adds, chuckling nervously.
“Unbelievable…” I shake my head and turn away from them, but Logan grabs my arm.
“Hey…if you must know, I borrowed it from a client…it may be without his knowledge but with me being his boss it’s fine.”
I don’t seem convinced, even more so when Jasper can’t even meet my eyes when I quickly glance at him. I know there’s more to this that they aren’t saying, but I am too tired to argue.
As if Logan can feel me giving in, he tugs at my arm so my hand is free from the pocket and grabs it then leads us forward with Jasper taking up the rear once more.
After walking a bit more, we come across a clearing. Nothing but grass and wildflowers in sight. I can’t help but look at it in amazement. It’s so calm and peaceful.
“It’s beautiful.”
Logan nods his head in agreement. “It is. I used to come here when I was younger. It’s a good place to think.”
“So, we are close to your pack?”
“Yes, we are. Just about another forty-five-minute walk and I can mind link to the pack.”
Out of nowhere, my stomach growls in hunger. I feel my cheeks redden in embarrassment. Logan halts, looks at me and sighs.
“You’re hungry.”
He doesn’t ask me since it’s quite obvious that I am. I never actually ate anything at the club, and we’ve been traveling for hours.
Logan looks at Jasper, who is now on my other side. “Get a fire going; I’ll get us something to eat. Do not leave her side.” Logan looks at Jasper sternly.
“Understood, Alpha.”
Logan then turns his attention back to me. “I won’t be long. Natalya, please don’t leave Jasper’s side. I won’t be gone long.” He kisses my forehead turns around and walks away.
I try not to shudder at the thought of what he would bring back for us to eat. Jasper nudges my shoulder for me to follow him into the clearing. We come across a fallen tree, or what’s left of it which is moss infested and what looks to be a patch of land with a man-made fire pit of sorts. Jasper ushers for me to sit on the tree while he gathers some sticks.
In no time at all, Jasper has a fire going and we are enjoying the warmth of the flames, or at least I am since Jasper is a werewolf and must always be warm. I giggle at the thought and Jasper stares at me curiously.
“What’s so funny?”
I shake my head, “Nothing. It’s just, you probably don’t even need the fire because you’re always warm. Right?”
Jasper chuckles. “Yes, Luna. We are always warm, even if we’re not in our wolf forms.”
“I’m sorry.”
“What for Luna?”
“For everything I guess.” I peered beside me at Jasper, and he just looks at me, waiting for me to elaborate. “It’s just, you and Logan have to build a fire and make sure I’m comfortable and you guys can’t even shift. I feel like such a let down because I’m human. Why would your Moon Goddess pair Logan with someone like me?”
Jasper shakes his head, scootches closer to me and places his hand on my knee. “Don’t ever think like that. Our Moon Goddess Selene does everything for a reason, and, by the way, I can’t believe you even know about our Moon Goddess; you really need to start showing me these books you’ve been reading.” I laugh lightly and Jasper chuckles. “And about you being human, don’t’ think that you’re a letdown because you’re not. I haven’t known you for very long but I know you’re strong-willed, brave and you’ve got heart. You’re gonna make a great Luna.”
I smile at Jasper, “Thank-you Jasper. That means a lot to me.”
“You’re welcome, Luna.”
“Jasper, can’t you just call me Natalya? Luna is too formal.”
“Umm no. I can’t do that. I don’t want to face Logan or his wolf’s wrath.”
“Yeah, I get that I guess. It was kind of terrifying when his wolf talked through him.”
Jasper grows quiet and I raise my eyebrows, “What is it?”
Jasper hesitates, “well, that’s actually the first time that’s happened.”
“Wait what?”
Jasper shakes his head, “I know, in all the years I’ve known Logan, his wolf has never talked through him before.”
“Can’t you guys communicate with your wolves?”
“Yes and no. We can only communicate with our wolves during the full moon; it’s a way for us to be thankful to the Moon Goddess for blessing us with our wolves. But other than that, we can only sense our wolf. They may grant us some courage in times of need or strength while in combat but other than that, no. What Logan and his wolf did shouldn’t be possible.”
“That’s so crazy. Do you think its because his wolf had to wait so long for his mate?”
“Honestly, I’m not sure. A werewolf hasn’t had a human mate in over a hundred years, let a lone an Alpha at that. We have no idea what to expect except…” Jasper trails off and I can’t help but worry.
“Jasper, except what? What aren’t you telling me?”
Before Jasper could respond, we hear a snapping of twigs and Logan appears with a couple of dead rabbits in each of his hands.
Oh my God, I think I’m gonna be sick. By the look on my face, Logan could tell I was not thrilled at the thought of having to eat rabbit. He looks reluctant but nonetheless walks towards us and drops the rabbits in between Jasper and me.
“It was all I could find. Jasper if you may.”
“Of course, Alpha.” Jasper grabs the rabbits and I look in awe as his claws elongate. Logan sits beside me and pulls me into his lap, facing away from Jasper.
“Did you miss me, mate?”
I wrap my arms around Logan’s shoulders and lean towards him. Logan looks surprised at my boldness, “To be honest,” I whisper in his ear, “Jasper kept me company, so I didn’t even notice you were gone.”
Logan grasps my hip and growls, and I laugh as I look at him in the eyes, “kidding.” Logan growls only this time it was more of a playful growl.
“Not funny, mate.” Logan looks mischievously at me, “I’ll have to find some way to punish you for that.” He leans towards me and starts nibbling on my earlobe, making his way down my neck and to my mark. I try to push him away, but his hold is too strong. I start to pant and I tilt my head to the side, giving him more access to my mark. I hear Logan chuckle. He presses my body down and I can feel his very hard member brush against my core. Holy f**k.
I hear someone clearing their throat behind us and Logan stops his assault on my neck; I try to hold back a whimper at his loss of touch.
“If you two don’t mind but going somewhere else to do...that. Or else I’m gonna upchuck my dinner before I’ve even eaten it.”
I laugh and hide in Logan’s shoulder in embarrassment. Logan stands up, making my legs wrap around his waist and he walks away. “As you wish, Jasper.”
Jasper chuckles, “I’ll let you know once dinner is ready.”
“No rush at all.” Logan chuckles.
Logan leads us away from the clearing, I can still see the light from the flames and Logan presses me up against a tree.
“Now, where were we, mate?” Logan doesn’t wait for me as he presses his lips to mine. I am shocked and don’t kiss him back at first, but his full lips feel so good I am no longer in shock and start to kiss him back. His tongue soon slides against my lips, demanding entry and I allow it. His tongue slides against mine and I can’t help but moan at the feeling. His dominance over me is making me so turned on I cling onto his shoulders, needing his body closer to mine. He pulls away from my lips and starts sucking on my mark and I can’t help but moan out his name. He leans away and looks at my hooded eyes with a smirk on his face.
“You seem to be enjoying yourself. I do recall wanting to punish you, but its not a punishment if you’re enjoying it now is it.”
I whimper and try to get him to kiss me again, but he pulls my hands away from his shoulders and pins them against the tree with one hand. I gasp and he uses the opportunity to plunge his tongue down my throat. By this time, I know my underwear is soaked with arousal, but I can’t help how my body responds to Logan’s touch. With his other hand, he unwraps my legs from his waist forcing them apart with one of his knees and his hand makes his way into my jeans and my underwear and starts rubbing just outside my entrance. I grind my body into his hand, needing more.
“Logan, please…” I can help but moan.
“Goddess, you’re so wet for me already, mate.”
He continues his assault and without warning he growls and plunges his finger into my very wet and tight entrance. I moan so loud I’m sure Jasper and all the wildlife in the forest could hear me. He pushes another finger into me and pumps his fingers faster and faster into me. I’m quivering in anticipation and am so close to finishing.
“That’s right, Natalya. You’re so f*****g tight. c*m for me.”
I moan and call out his name as I come all over his fingers. He continues thrusting his fingers as I ride out my orgasm. I am finally able to catch my breath, open my eyes and look at Logan. He looks satisfied as he pulls his fingers out of me, puts his fingers to his lips and sucks them clean.
“You taste so sweet, mate.”
I blush and look away, getting turned on all over again. Logan releases my hands and brings me in for a hug and he inhales my scent. I notice him go stiff and figure he is being mind linked by Jasper. He releases me and takes my hand, leading me back to the clearing.
“Dinner is ready, I’m assuming?”
Logan turns to me, “ Yes, but I’m already looking forward to dessert.”
I blush yet again at what he is insinuating, but we continue our way back to the clearing. I see Jasper rotating the roasting rabbit meat and I try not to hurl, knowing what I’m about to eat. My stomach growls at me and I ignore Logan’s chuckling. I guess beggars can’t be choosers. Its better than not eating at all. Logan and I sit around the fire as Jasper hands us each a stick with meat on it and we dig in.
