Chapter 8The following morning, Niall woke with a feeling that something was missing. He quickly realized it was Renard’s presence beside him. He saw the mercenary a moment later, standing at the entrance of the cave, his feet buried in snow almost to the top of his boots. “This doesn’t bode well,” Niall said as he got up, put on his boots, and wrapped up in his cloak before joining him. “Indeed, it doesn’t,” Renard agreed. It took no time at all for the others to leave their beds and come over, staring at the drifts of snow which covered nearly two feet of the floor inside the cave. Looking out, they saw nothing but blinding, wind-driven snow. Even the cart and the animals, which had been left close to the entrance, were invisible. “Stay here,” Renard ordered before he plowed through
