Chapter 14The bed and the room were empty when Niall awoke early the following morning. He was disappointed but knew there was nothing he could do about it other than to dress and go find Renard, wherever he was. After a trip to the garderobe, he put on the clothes he’d worn the day before, since everything else was still with the laundress.
He’d barely left the room when Petyr came out of his. He grinned broadly when he saw Niall, asking, “Did you have a good rest, after…?”
“After?” Niall replied, trying for an innocent look.
“You know what I mean. You finally had a chance to do what you both obviously wanted, so…”
“Not that it’s any of your business, but we did, and it was perfect.” Niall neglected to tell him it wasn’t quite what Petyr thought had happened. Even so, he had no reason
