How can that be? That's not fair! She totally betrayed me! Just then Makayla comes in with some friends.
"Whoa what died in here!" Makayla asks me.
"Not now Kayla," I say leaving the room.
I really wish I had Pastor Chad, my Youth Pastor back in Sylvania with me now. I'm very new to the whole Christian thing so some of it is still a struggle. I know what I can do though! Call Allie!
Allie Manor, the closest thing to a girl who's my friend back home. The one who took me to Church in the first place. The hall's pretty quiet so I stay here for privacy matters, and call Allie. To my surprise she picks up on the first ring.
"Angie!"
"Hey Allie!"
"How's Rivaux?" she asks.
"Oh, you know, school's school wherever you go."
"So, you’re saying that there's no differences between Rivaux and Southview?"
"Besides not having my friends, family, and my boyfriend? Not too much,"
"Aw missing us?" Allie asks. I sigh,
"I left my whole entire life behind of course I'm missing it. You know what never mind. I called because I was reading my Bible and now, I have a question."
"Okay shoot,"
"Okay I was reading Matthew 6:14 and 15 and it basically says that if you don't forgive others God won't forgive you."
"That sounds familiar," Allie agrees.
"How is that fair?! My Mom practically forsakes me and now I'm supposed to pretend that nothing ever happened?" I ask.
"Angie no, it says forgive. Ang all you gotta do is give her another chance. Try to regain the trust you originally had. You need to give her another chance, don't hold it against her."
"Well that's a lot easier but still difficult." I say.
"Try praying about it, that will also help." Allie suggests.
"Good idea, thanks."
"Angie?"
"Yeah?"
"Do you have a Church you can attend at Rivaux?"
"Honestly I haven't given it much thought. I mean with all the differences and changes going on."
"Ang you know that I love being here for you to answer your questions. I will always try to be here and always try to answer your questions to the best of my capabilities. But, I won't always be right next to my phone though to answer your questions and I'm still trying to find the questions to the answers to. You need someone closer to you and more knowledgeable. You need to find a Church."
"I don't know Allie, I'm so new to this and I don't have anyone who would be willing to go with me."
"Angie promise me you'll try."
"Fine I will," I agree.
"Thank you,"
"S,o have you been keeping an eye on Grant for me?" I ask her.
"Yeah um maybe a bit too good." Allie says softly.
"What do you mean?"
"Ang, I think your brother likes me."
"Why do you think that?"
"He asked me to go to the Ice Arena with him for a public skate."
"What else did he say?" I ask curious.
"Well he made it obvious he wants to be more than friends."
"So, what did you say?" I finally ask.
"Yeah kinda sorta,"
"Allie! You got a boyfriend!" I say smiling.
"No, I just agreed to a date."
"Allie Manor has it bad for my brother!" I say laughing.
"Whatever," she says dismissively.
"Fine I'll let it go."
"Good, now do you wanna hear how your boy is doing?"
"Don't word it like that."
"Word what like that?"
"Don't call Jon my boy."
"Why?"
"It just sounds weird."
"Fine,"
"How is he though?" I ask.
"Slumpy, he misses you like crazy."
"No he doesn't." I say in denial.
"How would you know? You’re not with him."
"Whatever,"
"Why are you denying the fact that you miss him?" Allie asks.
"Hey, I let your subject go why can't you let mine?" I ask.
"Fine, I gotta go anyhow. I'll call you later this week."
"Bye Allie," I say hanging up. Now I gotta call Grant and hear his angle about this date. He takes a lot longer to pick up.
"Hey Hot Shot, what's up?" Grant asks answering.
"Hot Shot?" I question him. "Is that your new nickname for me?"
"Yeah I figured you needed a nickname to suit your hockey skills. I thought about Super Star, but it didn't sound right."
"Wow Big Brother that was very profound." I tell him smiling.
"So how was your first day of school?" Grant asks.
"Do you honestly care?"
"If I didn't care I wouldn't have bothered asking."
"It was fine, nothing spectacular."
"Ha I don't have to start for another week!"
"Yeah but I get out a week before you." I remind him. "Anyhow wanna hear about something spectacular?"
"Depends, what is it?"
"Training Rivaux Style."
"Nice, how was it?"
"Amazing, Southview's dry lands are ridiculously weak compared to Rivaux's."
"Shocker, can you keep up?" Grant asks.
"Yeah I was probably the best of the Freshmen and Sophomores and somewhere in the middle of the Juniors." I tell him.
"Nice job Hot Shot." Grant compliments.
"So, I hear you have a date Friday," I say skipping to the topic on my mind.
"Jon tell you?" he asks.
"No, Allie herself. So, you got a thing for little Allie Manor?"
"Maybe, if your butt was at home you would know."
"Nah, I'll tease you from a distance." I assure him.
"You’re boyfriend's going insane."
"Who Jon?"
"He is your boyfriend, isn't he?" Grant asks.
"Yes Grant,"
"He's been in a total daze, he's missing you like crazy. I think it's love Hot Shot." I laugh,
"Yeah right Grant!"
"Ang I'm being serious, he's been different ever since you left."
"Hasn't everything been different since I've left?" I ask.
"Yeah you seem to add a little spark to everything." Grant admits. "Lifting, dry lands, the house, Jon."
"I don't give Jon any extra spark." I say still in denial.
"Yeah, sure whatever." Grant says.
"So, are you counting down the days until you see me?" I ask Grant.
"2 weeks Thursday Night."
"I thought you came in on Friday?" I ask confused.
"No, Dad's pulling us out of school that Friday and we'll leave as soon as school's out Thursday."
"Who's all coming up?"
"Dad, Mom, Drew, Jon, Me, and possibly Uncle Dave."
"No way! You think Aunt Mandi will actually let him come?"
"Better now then when the baby's here."
"True but she'll be like 8 months pregnant." I reason.
"We'll just have to wait and see. Have you talked to Mom since you've moved?"
"Yeah she called right when I got home from dry lands." I tell him.
"Did you hear about her apartment?"
"Yeah on the opposite side of town." I answer unhappily.
"How long do you think it will be until Mom or Dad start dating?" Grant asks curiously.
"For our sake, hopefully never."
"Yeah right, like that will ever happen."
"Well I need to go, I gotta shower and eat dinner." I tell Grant.
"Bye Hot Shot," he says hanging up.
