Chapter_15: Curses and bad weather

1214 Words
As Johnathan stared helplessly at Lisa, Raven took out her Glock 22 pistol and slowly aimed at Lisa.   “What are you doing?” exclaimed Johnathan.   “Can’t you see- she’s getting possessed by some evil spirit, if we don’t stop the process now, then there’s no stopping her!” Raven whispered.   “Who’s possessing her? The witch?” asked Johnathan.   He didn’t need Raven to answer the question, it was right before his eyes. Lisa was turning, her skin was turning dark, her eyes were black and she groaned and moaned like a wild animal. He had no idea what to do now- Billy had told him earlier that the witch was watching her and she would anything to stop her from getting to the church. She was vulnerable during this time. They had prepared a ritual back at the church to cleanse her from the evil spirit but he feared it was too late or was it?   “No, no, stop, the witch hasn’t possessed her yet, she’s in her head, weakening her mind, trying to break her down- we have got to help her before she weakens her anymore-“ said Johnathan and walked towards Lisa.   He then held her arm and whispered-   “Lisa! Lisa! Listen to me, I know you’re still in there, only you can help yourself- c’mon now, don’t let her take over your mind,” Raven was still pointing her gun at Lisa but suddenly she thought she saw someone through the corner of her eye. She looked to her left but there was no one there. But as she looked to her right, she was shocked to see an old lady calmly staring, not three feet away from her. Before she could utter a word, the old lady opened her mouth abnormally wide, her lower jaw almost touched the ground and then she let out a horrible cry and out came a swarm of nasty flies from her mouth. Raven jumped in fear and emptied the entire magazine at the old lady. Johnathan was busy trying to help Lisa, who was still kneeling on the ground, shivering and groaning, she was trying to fight back. As Raven fired those shots, Johnathan was shocked to see that Raven was firing at the thin air, there was nothing there.   “God! Stop! Raven!” yelled Johnathan.   Raven finally came to her senses and stopped firing, she was breathing heavily. The gun was empty but Raven was still pressing the trigger. She then realised that the old lady was gone and so were the massive swarms of flies.   “Did you see that?” said Raven nervously.   “See what?” asked Johnathan.   “The witch- she’s here-she tried to scare me-“she replied.   “And you think that the bullets will hurt her? She’s a hundred year old immortal witch for god’s sake- come and help me here-“he replied.   “But-but-“she stuttered and walked towards him. Suddenly Johnathan was finding it hard to breathe. He turned his head and saw Lisa choking his neck with her bare hands. He tried to break free but she was abnormally strong. Her eyes were mad with rage and her hair scattered. She grabbed his neck and stood up and then she lifted him up with one hand. Raven couldn’t watch this and do nothing, she quickly reloaded her pistol with another magazine from her pocket and aimed at Lisa, ready to fire any second.   Johnathan knew that it was no use trying to fight Lisa, it would only hurt her. The only way to help her was to stop the witch from controlling her. He was turning blue, he needed to do something immediately. Somehow he grabbed Lisa’s arm and twisted it with all his strength and pushed her away. Lisa lost her grip and he fell down on the ground, gasping for air. He saw Raven ready to fire at any moment now.   “Stop! Stop! This is what the witch wants- we hurt her, we make her crazier and she might never come back- we have to fight the disease not the victim- you hear me?” said Johnathan struggling to get up.   Raven lowered her pistol and nodded in agreement.   “So what do you suggest?” she asked him.   Johnathan thought for a second-   “The coin, where’s it? Get the coin, it will ward off any spirit or curse- she doesn’t have it on her, she must have dropped it in the car- go- quickly!” ordered Johnathan. Raven rushed to find the coin while Johnathan got ready for the second round. He had to keep her distracted until the coin was found. Lisa had madness in her mind, all she wanted was to kill both of them. Deep in her mind, her conscience was trapped and she could see the terrible things she was doing. But she felt that she had no control of her body, as if a darkness was slowly engulfing her mind and soon enough, she would cease to exist and all there will be left would be the ever growing darkness! She was trapped inside her own mind, screaming in fear, shouting and yelling for help but it was of no use. Her body was being controlled by something else.   Lisa ran towards Johnathan, intending to tear him to pieces. He could have easily defended himself with his Katana but the sword saw no difference between human and demon, it would take down anything evil. So he chose not to draw his sword but instead stood his ground bracing for impact. Lisa came dashing towards him and punched him hard on his right cheek. He fell down and hit his head on the car window. As he tried to stand up, he could feel a cold streak of blood falling down his forehead. But Lisa wouldn’t stop now, she was seconds away from being completely possessed by the witch’s curse. She kicked and punched Johnathan furiously but Johnathan didn’t fight back. Raven was there, still trying to look for the coin in Lisa’s car. It was the only thing that could end this madness. She saw Johnathan being beaten black and blue and he wasn’t fighting back. She knew that Lisa couldn’t kill him but it would definitely hurt him a lot.  Fortunately she found the coin lying underneath the seat. She picked it up and yelled at Johnathan.   “Found it!” she said holding the coin in her right hand.   But before she could say anything else, she saw that a loud burst of lightning came flowing out of Johnathan’s body that defended him from Lisa’s attacks and knocked her away from him.   “His Qi, it fought back, even though he refused to,” she thought.   Realizing that she was hurt, he stood up and went to help her. Raven took the coin towards him.   The weather was worsening by the minute. The winds were getting stronger and the thunder and lightning became more intense. Lisa was lying unconscious on the ground. Both of them went up to her and Johnathan took the coin and placed it on Lisa’s forehead- nothing! Nothing changed, Lisa was still knocked out, was it too late?
