Chapter_20: The Coven

1009 Words
It was past midnight- about 1:30 a.m. Raven crouched on the rooftop of a shopping mall peeping through her binoculars. She was observing the docks- which was allegedly used by some peculiar individuals for some nefarious activities. Her sources had informed her that whatever was going on at the docks during the dead of the night was not natural albeit supernatural. She would have gladly sent an anonymous tip to the authorities concerned if the party were regular lowlifes screwing around with some illegal substances but this- this was something only she and her team could handle. Billy was arriving soon with Johnathan fully prepared for anything. Her job was to keep a close eye and to find out before hand as to what was exactly going on there. She saw the gate that led to the docks and two armed guards and besides that nothing much was going on. She wondered whether she had been given wrong information- but her sources were never wrong before and she hoped they won't be wrong tonight- this was Johnathan's first job after all! Two minutes later she saw a limo pull up to the gate- the doors opened and two shady guys got out and then they dragged out a girl- she waa wearing a white dress and her hands were tied behind her back- her eyes were covered and her mouth was strapped with a piece of cloth. Raven was immediately alarmed- she took out her trusty sniper rifle and peeped through it's scope- there it was- a teenage girl being dragged by the men towards the dock- she was struggling hard. Raven wished that she could snipe their heads off and send their ungodly souls back to hell- but she thought it would be wise to wait for back-up. Fortunately Billy called on her phone- "We're here-", he said "About 200 metres from the gate ... find anything?" Raven explained what she saw and Billy asked her to stay put and act when necessary. So she waited-patiently pointing her rifle at the guards- silently crouching in the dark like a jaguar ready to pounce. Billy put on his jacket and put on a sheriff's hat- Johnathan followed suit. Both of them casually walked towards the gate and called out the guards- "Hey there fellers....Whatcha doing in there buddy?" asked Billy. The guards were alarmed but they acted calmly. One of them said- "Private property- no trespassing-" "Oh? gonna need to see some papers then-", replied Billy. One of the guards hesitantly took out some papers and handed them to Billy. Johnathan read them and said- "Looks all right to me Chief-" "Well I'm still gonna need to check inside if you don't mind-" said Billy. "Let me call the boss-" the guard said. Now Raven was observing everything from the rooftop and could see them clearly through the scope. She was awaiting for a signal and soon enough she got it. As soon as one of the guards turned around to call his boss, Billy put his right hand behind his back and made a gun sign using his index and thumb fingers. Raven saw this and immediately fired two shots at the guards. Both of them were headshots and the men immediately collapsed to the ground. Billy and Johnathan hurried and dragged their bodies out of sight. Then Billy took out his gun and tread carefully towards the dockyard- Johnathan was feeling silly for not having a gun in his hand but he didn't need one. "I've got a bad feeling about this son- "said Billy. "Don't worry I can handle it-" replied Johnathan. "There ain't nobody around in here-" whispered Billy as he crouched beneath some wooden crates. The dock was small around 600 foot wide and it had a long boardwalk which led to the river. Besides a few lamppsts, the entire place was dark and eerily silent. Suddenly he saw lights in the river upfront. There seemed to be a boat approaching the dock. "Where did they take the girl?" asked Johnathan. "Hard to tell -" replied Billy. On top of one of the crates stood Grim- the demon- dressed in a long coat with his face covered. He stood silently in the dark watching the two of them entering his trap. Everything was going according to his plan- all he needed to do now is to wait and watch. Raven had a clear sight of both of them as long as they stayed in her line of sight. She was expecting a fight but it was dead silence. She felt something was wrong and so she changed her position and moveda little closer even if it meant exposing her. She checked her ammo- silver and copper bullets blessed with holy water- and all she needed was a headshot! The boat drew closer and closer- Billy and Johnathan carefully hid themselves and waited for the boat to dock. It docked within a minute and the lights turned off- Billy peeped through the crates and expected to find someone walking off the boat- but nothing- nobody came out! The boat simply turned off it's engines and floated silently in the water. "What in the world?" whispered Johnathan"I see no one coming out-" "This was a bad idea- c'mon let's get outta here-" replied Billy. "But what about the girl?" asked Johnathan refusing to leave. "Forget about the girl- there ain't no girl here- it's a bloody trap!" said Billy. "Right you are -" a voice echoed from the dark and it chuckled. Johnathan could feel the movements of something unknown- it was jumping all over the place and he could hear it whooshing like a bat hunting it's prey. He immediately reached for his sword. "My, my.... How time's have changed! Ha ha ha...", said the voice still flying about in the dark. "Show yourself coward!" yelled Billy. Raven was seeing this too but she couldn't make out what is it that the guys were looking for. She then switched to infra red in her scope-
