UNTIL I WAS DIFFERENT

MEETING IN THE PARK

Alex kept on smiling as she walked ...

"Oh I should probably call him to see if he's ready"....she thought as she called his number while she kept on smiling.

"The number you dialed is switched off"...

She tried again and after the ninth she finally gave up trying.

She started looking down.

"Maybe he's already there but can't call me cause he's phone is dead"....she thought as a ray of hope touched her heart that was already almost broken by expectation.

Just then she started walking fast to the spot she and Caleb agreed to meet.

But when she finally got there...The bench was EMPTY!...and Mr charming was nowhere to be found!..

"Where on earth could he possibly be!"....she said with a down face...

"Maybe he just forgot?"...she said irritated.

"I should probably call again...but this is the last time,he should know better than to stand a lady up on a date!"....

She grabbed her phone to dial... when a voice whispered to her ear from behind.

"On a date?".....

It was CALEB!....

"Oh good lord!!"....Alex screamed as it was obvious she was startled.

"I didn't know this was a....date"...Caleb said smiling at Alex.

Alex who was trying to calm down git hit with another one when she realized Caleb heard what she said earlier.

"Huh.... what?....well I didn't know we were supposed to make ghost entrances"... Alex attacked.

" Woah woah woah chill out a little...I was already close by..... before I heard you say we are on a date"...Caleb said as he didn't hide the fact he was enjoying teasing her.

"What...oh the....you heard wrong"....alex said with a nervous laugh.

" oh really now"...Caleb said as he crossed his hand over his chest smiling.

"Yh I actually said to stand a lady up on a...to stand a lady up on a...a....wait!...yh to stand a lady up on a wait...yh that's it...not a date...I mean that would be ridiculous, how could you even think that...haha" alex stuttered as she gave a hard nervous laugh.

"Yh yh.....whatever you sat princess".... Caleb said smiling st her.

"Enough now.... Stop sweating or you'll ruin your make up"... Caleb smiled as he handed her his handkerchief.

" oh thanks ".....alex said embarrassed as she took it from him...

As she took it she observed a Stitching on it...it was a red dragon on fire.....she traced her fingers round it as she kept on admiring it.

"Pretty right?"... Caleb said as he saw how he lost her attention to the handkerchief.

" oh yh...it is"...alex said as Caleb's words brought her back to reality.

"You made it?"... Alex asked with her eyes still fixed on it.

" Well ....not actually, .....I earned it"....

"Huh...earned?".... Alex said as she tore her gaze from the handkerchief and faced caleb.

" its more complicated than you know ...let's just say its a family thing "....

" oh I see...am sorry"...alex quickly stretched her hand to return it.

"No its fine....and you haven't wiped off all that sweat....you don't want to stink do you" Caleb teased again.

Alex smiled as she used the handkerchief.

"By the way...you look pretty though... Did you get all pretty for me?"... Caleb said with a grin on his face.

Suddenly Alex stopped in her steps and gave Caleb THE LOOK.

" oh oh "...Caleb said as he saw alex glaring at him.

" Look here Mr CALEB...in case you lost your memory somehow, let me refresh it .....we just met!!and I will not allow this flirty nature you are clearly showing off!".. Alex attacked as sh walked ahead of Caleb.

"Hey hey c'mon, I was only kidding...besides you were the one who called it a date.....

" I did what now! "...Alex said as she turned to give him another glare.

" nothing ma'am "....Caleb said as he stopped his jokes.

"Better"... Alex said as she walked away.

Damn! Alex you should really consider acting...you are on fire!....alex thought to her self as she smiled.

She likes Caleb, I mean she got all dressed up for him and all, but she didn't want him to know she likes him so he doesn't see her as the easy to get type... She wanted him to see her highly as a

girl who is respectable not for him to think lowly of her as a girl who could throw herself at a guy she just met...so easily.

" Hey! Wait up you are supposed to show me around not leave me by myself you know!... Caleb yelled as he ran to her.

And finally he reduced the gap between them.

"Damn girl you're fast....you should try out for the olympics"... Caleb laughed as he gasped for air.

" But am considering acting"...Alex said with a smile.

"Huh?"....

" Nevermind...I walk faster when am angry"...Alex said with a straight face this time.

As she was about walking ahead of Caleb again to create a gap between them...Caleb immediately grabbed her arm....

"Just cause i dont use them doesn't mean I don't have fast reflexes you know"... Caleb said with a grin on his face.

" what's the meaning of this?"...alex said as she looked at her arm then at Caleb's face.

Caleb released her arm immediately he realized his grip was tight.

"Am....am sorry, am sorry I didn't mean to hurt you or get you angry.....am sorry"... Caleb said with fear in his hands.

Alex noticed his eyes and thought maybe she over did it a little

" fine... its ok, wasn't really that angry anyway....

"Huh...really?, I mean you seemed really pissed off earlier"... Caleb said.

" oh yh I was ....it took you long enough to apologize".... Alex said rolling her eyes.

"Wow.... So you mean this was all just for....an apology?"... Caleb said in disbelief.

Alex nodded as she smiled.

"And that's it....I will never understand you ladies".... Caleb said laughing.

And seeing him smile again made her smile, she didn't get why he had that fear in his eyes earlier ..but what she knew was that she liked it better when he was like this...when he smiles.

" We came here to show you around and that's exactly what we're gonna do...C'mon now... lets go"...alex said as she locked hands with Caleb.

"Now first stop is the best restaurant in town...."FOOD PALACE" .....I mean their their steak is to die for!!, thinking about it already makes my tommy crave"....Alex said as she smiled at Caleb.

Caleb on the other hand just watched talk and smiled as he saw their arms were interlocked.

"Feels like a date to me".... Caleb said to himself as he smiled.

"Sure lets do just that.... Maybe even grab a bite of this steak that is supposingly to die for".... He said with a smile, and ad always Alex did the same.

They went for lunch at the restaurant Alex praised so much and they saw some tall buildings, beautiful trees and wonderful sights.

After they had seen almost the whole neighbourhood and they were now walking slowly now, as it was obvious their legs were worned out already.

" So....how di you like the tour...whole and the steak"...Alex said as she chuckled...she spoke first to break the silence.

Well the tour... It Was OK though... And as for the steak I think you enjoyed it more than me "....Caleb teased.

" haha...the steak was too good,blame the chef not me OK, she laughed...and what do you mean by...the tour was OK though?... I mean I showed you the most beautiful places around here ...its either you're saying the places aren't pretty or I did a bad job"...Alex said sounding like a 7 year old who got told Santa canceled christmas.

Caleb smiled.....

"Hey...trust me today you were great...amazing even, today i had so much fun,cant even remember the last time I felt that happy... and as for the places ...parks, buildings, restaurants and all that...they were undeniably beautiful....but I thought you looked more beautiful today, you really made my day today...."

Just then Alex face brightens up with a smile..

"Oh well that's a relief, glad you liked it"... Alex said smiling.

" yh but did you hear the part I called you beautiful "...Caleb started with his teasing again.

" huh.... Hahaha thanks..... You're never gonna stop teasing me are you?....alex said with a laugh.

"Not until fish start to walk am afraid"...Caleb teased again.

" hahaha jeez I just can't with you ..you know"alex said really laughing.

"Only that I wasn't trying tease you when I said that ....I meant it, you were the best view I got to see today....Caleb said as he moved closer to her lips.

" Caleb...."alex said as she placed her hand on her chest pushing him away slowly.

"Am..am sorry" Caleb said as he drew back.

"Caleb i..."

"No its fine...I get it we just met, that was stupid..I was stupid, am sorry"...Caleb said feeling embarrassed.

" yh its fine.. Thanks for understanding"alex said with a smile trying to make the situation seem....not so awkward.

"Yh ...sure" Caleb said still feeling stupid.

While the two were still talking and having their moment...

Somewhere in their neighbourhood .....TEXAS....Jason was lying on the floor, bleeding almost to death when an ambulance came to pick him up.

"Stay away from Alex!"... the voice of his attacker kept on replaying in his head causing him to scream in fear.

" pick him up!get the stretcher!"....who could have done this to you kid?"....one of the ambulance guy said.

"He's coming for me!he's gonna kill me!!"..Jason cried out.

" What in God's name happened here"...another man said

"Got a call from neighbours around here,saying he had been here since morning,they thought he was one of those drunks but as it was getting late and he hadn't moved , they thought he was dead so they called for an ambulance".... Another man explained to the other man who seemed to be his senior.

"Dr Jake! The bleeding won't stop and the wound won't seal!"...a nurse said to the senior.

" Goddamn it....it won't anytime soon...leave it and tell the driver to step on the gas on!

"Rayner...he's just a kid"...Dr Jake said under his breathe has he let out a sigh.

BACK TO ALEX AND CALEB

"Well am glad you had fun, so did I....thanks for walking me home by the way, but you really didn't have to"... Alex said with a smile.

" yh but i wanted to"...Caleb smiled.

Alex did the same..."well goodbye then...see you around"

"Yh...bye"...caleb smiled as he turned back to leave

Alex was already doing the same before she turned back and faced him.

" Hey wait!....why exactly where you late?

Just then Caleb turned to her

"I had to take care of a little something"... Caleb said as he smiled sideways.

" oh OK then....bye"....just then alex went into her house.

"Good night Alex james.....no on gets to hurt you...no one.
