23. Wind of Change

Liam POV:

We were at the Royal Pack.

“Prospero, you know what I have to do today, right?” I mind-linked my second in command.

“I do, it’s about time. You know we all trust you and if you want my opinion, you’re doing the right thing” he replied. He has always been my best friend and his opinion mattered a lot to me. I was ready.

So much has happened in the past few days, I wanted to take Alice to the mansion and prepare the mating and the coronation ceremony to finally make her my Queen, but it feels like it was never the right time and it wasn’t indeed with this f****d up group around.

I was dying to have time with Alice. She’s getting ever sexier with my babies inside her and we mated like crazy at the same moment that we made our way inside our room, then I took her to the bathroom and on bed again at Atlas’ castle. But it was quickly, as we were worried about Conri and needed to wake up early.

I’m loving this new side of hers. Pregnancy did some good to her libido.

"I want to spend my time with her, Liam", Alec said in my mind.

"Soon, we will take her together", I reassured him.

“Gorgeous, are you OK?” Alice asked me, wrapping her arms around mine.

“Of course, I was just thinking about our moments these past few nights” I whispered in her ear and I could see she got goosebumps all over her body. I smirked.

She winked at me.

“And you know what? I’m soaking wet for you right now”, she mind-linked me as her hands were sliding on my tattooed chest and I had to sigh at the electric jolt she was making me feel all over my being and my erection was ready to take her. She will be the death of me.

“Stop teasing me, little mate, or you’ll be punished. I’m already hard enough to bury my d**k deep inside your tight p***y” I mind-linked her back as I placed my head in the crook of her neck and took a lungful of her scent, making her almost moan.

“You wouldn’t dare”, she said breathlessly through our bond. Did she actually think so?

I was dying to spank that hot round ass of hers.

“Try me”. I locked my eyes on her ones to reassure her how much I meant it, she bit her lips in response teasing me.

“That’s it, my sexy vixen, I’m going to make you c*m for me just by spanking this sexy ass of yours tonight”

“I can’t wait” she replied.

“f**k”, I swore under my breath and she chuckled.

We were in the meeting room at the Royal Pack. Conri approached us.

“The Alphas and their Lunas have been invited, they’re making their way to the Royal Pack and in a few hours they will all arrive” Conri said, and I couldn’t help but notice some hesitancy.

“Conri, we need to talk”, I told him and he frowned.

“Is everything all right?” he asked me.

I glanced at Alice and she grabbed Randall’s arm and they left the room to give us some space.

“It is, I just want to make sure you’re OK. I know you’ve been through a lot and you’re trying to be strong for the wolves, but I just want you to know that it’s OK to feel like s**t after living in the nightmare you've been through. I know how you’re feeling, so if you need to talk about it before the Alphas arrive, I’m here”, I reassured him and he looked down. But quickly his gaze met mine again, he was a royal and he had to handle 16 very dominant and strong Alphas.

He needed to be tougher and even more dominant to handle them.

And I knew how anxious and insecure he was, he loved his realm.

“Come on, I’m handsome and built up, how can you say I feel like s**t?” He chuckled, but then he was serious again.

“Liam, actually you may know how I feel, but I don’t think I have the time and the right to be insecure right now and ask that much of you to comfort me, thank you. I’m aware that I’ve lived in such a nightmare these past decades. I’m glad I’m OK now, but I don’t think there will ever be worse torture than to watch all of your people being mercilessly slaughtered and can’t do much about it like you did before, so I’m also here if you want someone to talk to. I know you could never talk to any other dragon about your feelings, you want and need to be strong for them. I, better than anyone, know that it’s our job as kings to care, be strong and protect them and the feeling of being powerless facing those harsh situations is almost unbearable”, Conri stated, and he was right.

“You’re right, even now those memories are very painful to be reminded of. It was dawn and I remember how quiet everything was, too quiet…” I looked down and up again.

“Then all I could hear was kids screaming in their nest, women crying out loud trying to protect them, the men and dragons roaring, fighting against the vampires and the heat coming from the window. I know now that they were the most responsible ones for it. It took seconds to end with everything we had, everything we knew. A few days ago, before this m******e happened, the Goddess sent us a rune through Odin. It was very special and I can remember that it was a special gemstone. Our Runes aren't like the Humans' ones, they mostly make their Runes out of clay nowadays. They have special effects but there's no magic on them. Dragons create it out of gemstones. I'd never seen anything like that and I quickly opened and closed the chest, so I knew it was from Olympus because of that divine aura that was coming from it even inside the golden chest. Then I could hear Odin whispering in my mind that I was supposed to trigger it when the time comes”. I looked at King Conri, who was listening intently to everything I was saying.

“And it came. We could teleport all the living dragons that were in the Dragon’s Royal Kingdom to the Human Realm…” I continued, “after we teleported, we found ourselves in a forest and we also found an old couple of humans. They were walking by and startled when they saw us, but they could see that we meant no harm. They lived on their own around the forest and we built a village and protected them until their very last breath as we got to learn about humans. We'd planned ways to mix with them so no one could ever know what we were or that we were alive. You know there are many beings that choose to live there, even some wolf packs made themselves out of here and now live in the Human Realm, so there we are now…there was some robbery back at my mansion about a month ago while I was at the company working until late. My second in command mind-linked me and I teleported. All we could smell was a wolf’s scent around my office, so we decided to go investigate it. That’s when I met Alice.” I finished and I was feeling so much better. I had never talked about that night so openly before.

“No one deserves to go through this kind of s**t and I ask for your forgiveness. I was there in Ghost form and as soon as I saw that your army wasn’t gathered, I ordered the wolves to back up. But something just came to me now. The one who brought me the fake plan that the Dragon was about to attack us was Alpha Mueller. I’ll interrogate him after the meeting. Also, I'm going to suggest the other kings investigate their Realms too”. Conri said and I nodded.

“Thank you, it looks like we’re the oddest natural enemies of this realm” I chuckled and Conri laughed.

“It turns out we’re more rational than we thought, then. You know, being tortured wasn’t the end of the world at first, because I had hope that I’d make my way out somehow or that maybe my army would come to me, but then I saw someone that looked like me walking by and years and decades passed by. The worst part wasn’t the pain at all. I knew I could handle any kind of pain or even death if the Goddess wished so”, he looked down and his eyes were glowing with tears.

However, he fought it back, “the worst part was…” he hesitated and I kept my silence waiting for him to take his time. I knew how painful it was for him to remember something terribly bad that kept on happening over and over again for decades and finished only a few days ago..

“The worst part was being without my Lycan and not knowing how the werewolves were doing. I didn’t know what they were doing to my Pack, the Royal Pack. They never asked me a single question about any information at all, they always knew what they were doing”, Conri said, and my hand turned into a fist.

I will be so happy taking my sweet time punching all of them until death.

“Conri, there’s something I want you to say today”. I mind-linked him and told him what I wanted and he nodded at me in reassurance.

Someone knocked at the meeting room’s door and we turned to look at it.

“Come in” Conri said, and they opened the door.

There were two Alphas with Randall, along with Alice, Henry and Elliot.

“Your Highness, thanks Goddess you’re back” the Alphas said, cheering in unison.

“Alpha Stephen and, Conan? Where are your parents?” Conri asked with his face frowning.

“They’ve been tortured and killed by rogues, unfortunately” Alpha Conan said, and Conri frowned.

“I’m so sorry about that, they were good friends of mine. If I were here, things would be different. Make yourself at home here, Alpha Conan”, Conri said, with a sad look on his face.

“Thank you, Your Highness”, Conan said. There was some sadness in his eyes but he kept his composure.

“Alpha Stephen, I hope your Luna’s fine”

“She is Your Highness and we also have pups. The girl is 3 and the boy’s 5”, Alpha Stephen said, and Conri put an ear to ear smile on his face.

“Pups are always a blessing. Congratulations, please let me know if you need anything, Alpha Stephen” he said, and turned to Elliot.

“Sir Elliot, I have no words to say how thankful I am. King Atlantes let me know that you were the one who kept an eye on my brother and the Royal Pack, anyone who stands for this pack is an ally and you can consider me as a friend”, Conri stated, and Elliot bowed down.

“Your Highness, there’s no need to be thankful, you know we won’t ever coward when we see that a Royal is in danger, I’m the one who’s honored to be here all these years watching for the wolves”, Elliot said, and Conri turned to Henry.

"Henry" he called, standing up.

"You're the best Beta any Alpha could ever have. Thank you for being here protecting this pack. I know that with your power, the Royal Pack were truly protected", he stated.

I wondered what Henry's power was and why nobody ever talked about it before.

Henry bowed down.

"It was an Honor, Your Highness, now that everything is fine and Alpha Randall is here, I believe I'll leave for the Black Moon Pack" he said, and Alice grabbed his arm.

"Wait, Henry. Please, I'll take you" she said, and he nodded.

They flashed and in a few seconds later, she was back.

Henry was a very loyal Beta indeed.

After a few hours, all the Alphas were seated in the Meeting Room. Most of them couldn’t hide their confused faces.

Alice POV:

Everyone was there, I was watching closely every single one of them and most of the Alphas seemed confused and concerned.

The Lunas made the room look lighter and most of them were talking non-stop and laughing. It was really a good thing to see.

Liam was beside King Conri and my dad was on the other side, along with Alpha Stephen and Conan. I was at Liam’s side.

My father would be a perfect Beta for the King, but I’m sure he would never leave our pack, at least not until he finds someone who would fit perfectly for the Alpha position. Maybe Henry, he wasn’t as strong as my dad, I think, but he was definitely very wise, as wise as elves were or if my father and Susan got together and had a pup to become the Alpha…but still it would be almost impossible.

They weren’t fated mates, only the elves women had the blessing of getting pregnant with their chosen mates.

When I thought about it, I felt very uneased, I was unwanted by my own mother and she could get pregnant. But only the Goddess knew what kind of dark things she did to my father’s real mate.

Damn, I’m going to kill her myself, sharing the same blood or not, I would never allow this cruelty.

Liam must’ve felt how tense I was because he held my hand and made me relax.

King Conri cleared his throat and everyone became silent. He stood up.

“Thanks for all of you coming at such a short notice. It was an emergency. I have something to pronounce. The truth you all deserve to know” he began, and he explained everything that happened and he talked about the man who had been taking his place in the Royal Pack in the last two decades and everybody frowned and gasped.

“I beg your pardon, King Conri, I’m Alpha Lincoln de Boule from the White Moon Pack”. He introduced himself to all of us.

The Alphas already knew him but they always introduced themselves when there were new guests in the Meeting Room.

“Your Highness, you’re saying that for these two decades, we were being ruled by an impostor?” he asked, concerned.

“That’s right, that was my young half-brother, he’s from an evil group called Sixforce of Crows. You all must be in full alert mode and keep your pack protected and take this as an order” Conri said firmly, and everybody frowned but nodded.

Then something came into my mind: How the hell did it happen? Were Lycans like Elves who could breed with anyone?

“It seems that King Conri’s mother wasn’t as pure as we thought” Alpha Mueller said, smirking, making some Alphas also laugh. He was the worst. I got enraged, but before I could even say something, a loud growl echoed through the room and silenced all the Alphas.

I could see that every single one of them stiffed, apart from Liam, obviously, and my dad.

I knew Shadow, he recognized King Conri, but he still refused to bow to anyone.

It was a growl that I'd never heard before. I almost jumped on my chair, startled, it was very powerful.

We all glanced at King Conri and now I understood why he was the King. Maybe the Alphas got so used to that royal but weak aura of his brother that they didn’t expect it at all.

“Alpha Mueller, I will not tolerate anyone talking about my mother in this way. I’ll let it go this time because you probably didn’t know that my bastard brother was my father’s son, but still, I demand respect in my pack. Next time I’ll consider taking back your Alpha position, understood it?” King Conri said with the determination of a King and his aura was expanding the whole room, it was actually such a beautiful thing to see.

Alpha Mueller froze and nodded, “I beg your forgiveness, Your Highness, it was just a silly joke. I would never disrespect our past King and Queen who made so much for this Realm, obviously” he said while bowing down.

It served him well and I felt my soul lighter.

“King Conri, how did this happen? I thought that only fated mates could reproduce”, I asked him.

“It’s not a regular thing to see but it might happen to a few Lycans as well, very rarely” He replied and continued; “Now, I have one more thing to say, this man on my right is our special guest; King Liam Venctury” Conri said and most of the Alphas frowned, they surely knew about Liam past “he’s the King of Dragons and also Alice’s mate and I believe he has something to say” he stated and my eyes opened wide.

“You knew this?” I mind-linked Liam.

“I did, I’m the one who told him to reveal it. I won’t hide anymore, my Queen, and neither should you” he replied, and my heart raced, but I was happy he decided so.

The Alphas were speechless and Liam stood up.

“I’m the King of Dragons, Liam Venctury. We’ve been living in the Human Realm ever since the war and I decided to reveal it to you because there’s something I want to ask you all; about a month ago, there was a robbery in my Mansion and all I could ever smell from it was a wolf scent. It’s very important for you to contact me if you have any information about it. It could be a trap. Someone must be acting to blame the wolves or some wolf must be acting behind your back, which is very serious…” he said.

King Conri stood up and started to walk slowly around the table and around the Alphas, the way Conri was walking around them. I even got tense in this situation. We, wolves, take this as a threat because we tend to circle our prey before attacking them. If the one who was doing it wasn’t our King, and a very powerful King, the Alphas would already take it as a challenge and attack him, but some of them were almost quivering out of fear.

Besides, there were two kings in the room and their auras were doing a freaking great job.

“Or even worse, some of you may be the ones who did it…” Conri kept his silence for about 3 seconds, as if he was trying to hear their heartbeats, as he was still walking making his way to his chair.

“Anyway, I’d like to ask for your help to get to the bottom of it, King Conri, with the help of the Alphas”, Liam pleaded.

“Of course, King Liam, we will spare no efforts until we get to the bottom of this matter. We won’t tolerate this kind of thing in our realm”, King Conri said, and the Alphas nodded.

I was relieved. I glanced at my dad and he was expressionless, the king's aura had no effect on him. I slightly chuckled, he was the best wolf and the best dad ever.

“Any questions, Alphas?” Conri asked.

“I do, Your Highness”. An Alpha stood up.

“I’m Bartholomew Jones from the Blue Moon Pack. King Liam, it is a pleasure to have you here with us, like our real King. May I ask what the thief did steal? It would help in our investigation”

“It’s my pleasure, Alpha Bartholomew, they stole some runes” Liam replied, and I froze.

“Liam, the first day we met, the guards used some kind of gemstone, there were some symbols imprinted on it, they used it to teleport us into the Security Building. I can’t believe I let it escape from my thoughts before”. I mind-linked him and he glanced at me concerned.

“We will talk about it when we make our way to the mansion, my Queen” he replied, and I slightly nodded.

The rest of the meeting was all about the pack’s business. My dad got excited at that moment and straightened up, every Alpha talked about their own pack and even King Conri relaxed, except for the rogue attacks the Packs near the borders had been suffering. Our pack was also one of them, but my dad acted like it was no big deal.

“Liam, I’m worried about rogue attacks”. I mind-linked him and he held my hand in reassurance.

His expression changed a little, he was mind-linking someone.

When the Alphas finished their speech, King Conri stood up.

“I’ll be sending more warriors to the borders and I believe King Liam has something to tell us” he said.

Liam stood up.

“King Conri, I’d like to offer some help. I can send some dragons to check on the borders regularly, they can fly around the realm to ensure that you’re safe and no threat is approaching”, he stated, and I was so proud of my King caring for the wolves.

Most of the Alphas smiled in approval and a few of them got stiffed, but they knew better that it would be safer.

“King Liam, it’s an honor to work together with the dragons” Conri said as he slightly smiled.

I could already feel the breeze of the wind of change.
