2. Unlikely Bond

Liam POV:

Like nothing else mattered, I disappeared from the place where I should be, I was following where this scent was coming from, I felt intoxicated.

I was trying to walk fast but it all seemed like a damn slow motion. My heart was racing but the scent was calming me down. I didn’t know how long I'd been walking, but I stopped by the crystalline river as the scent got stronger. Then I saw her, she seemed to be looking for something until her gaze found mine and there was the most beautiful woman I ever laid my eyes on. I felt my eyes burning with lust. She was small and shouldn’t measure more than 5’2.

Oh little girl, the things I already want to do with you, Alec was fighting to come to the surface.

Her tied half-up long auburn smooth and silk hair falling over her body, the tip was down her waist and it was conveying her sweet and innocent self, as her clear beige skin made me want to touch it with my fingers to proof myself she was real and I stared deeply at her now darker beautiful brown eyes, she was also staring at me with eyes wide open when a growl come from my chest and I muttered “Mine”, I heard she also recognized me.

Her voice was Heaven and it came out no louder than a whisper. We were mates.

'We are supposed to be together from now on, after so many centuries waiting for her', I thought to myself.

But then, something caught my attention, there was something wrong. Was she a…she-wolf?

No, the Goddess wouldn’t do it to me…a she-wolf? Her kind was also the cause of all my people’s pain. I had to reject her. Alec started to roar and whine in my head.

“Liam, we can’t reject her. She’s our mate, I love her already, I don’t care if she’s a wolf or not, I won’t let you do it. I’ll force a shift if it’s necessary and you know what it'll mean here, but I will not let you do it, she’s mine.” Alec was enraged, she was already causing me trouble.

She noticed my hesitancy and looked away disappointed. I thought she was going to walk away when she turned to her side and put her small and delicate hands crossed on her arms and this thought made me relieved, but still I felt a sting in my heart, maybe she’s the one who’s going to reject me?

I couldn’t stand this thought, my heart clenched painfully, I was craving for her, I was having an internal battle with myself.

She clearly noticed I wasn't a wolf even though I was also covering my Dragon’s scent, but all of a sudden, when I wasn’t expecting at all and to break any signal of hesitancy I was before, she turned to face me again, uncrossed her arms, now her delicate hands were intertwined and relaxed in one on top of the other, I froze watching all this beautiful spectacle and she laid her head to the side a little and smiled for me and from this smile on, I knew I couldn’t live without her.

Alice POV:

I ran for about 20 minutes until I found a clear spot in the forest.

“ OK, I think we’re far enough Hope, ready?” I asked in my mind as I got undressed.

“Born ready!”

I put my clothes inside my bag and shifted to Hope. She barely finished the shifting, biting our bag up and started to run like crazy. She was very fast, the fastest wolf I’ve ever seen, and she was beautiful, not as big as the Alpha but subtly bigger than any other ranked wolf. She has grey and white fur, bright yellow eyes, she’s elegant but also strong, extremely agile and skillful. I enjoyed the breeze as she was hunting every kind of little animal she saw, she was playing with the leaves, butterflies and even swirling in the air.

It was nice but we couldn’t find the deer she was expecting to hunt. We decided to go further and it was a very nice day to get a break from being in human form.

We'd gone even further than we could from the Wolf’s city and I noticed we were getting close to the border.

“Hope, we are forbidden to pass through”.

“C’mon, let me be Ali, you know we can pass through it in our secret passage, I’m going, you can’t force me not to now. I have this feeling I have to do this today.”

“Goddess, fine, but let’s not be long or we’ll end up being severely punished if we get caught.” I whispered to Hope, afraid of anyone hearing me even inside my thoughts.

She sniffed around and found the passage inside a bush. Hope crawled into a very tight hole outside the border. She kept crawling for a couple of minutes until she ran as fast as she could.

“Let’s shift, Hope! I have to see in our bag if you squeezed my breakfast lunch” She just chuckled on my note, let my bag go from her teeth and sniffed it trying to open the bag with her snout.

“C’mon, already” I laughed at her, trying to open it with her claws now.

When we shifted back, I put my clothes on and I was about to eat something when the manliest scent ever surrounded me, mahogany and oakmoss, I’ve never smelled something so good and addictive in my life, Hope was pacing around in my head but I didn’t even care.

“What is this? Where is this manly scent coming from?” I asked her.

“I think it’s our mate, let’s go hunt him now, forget the deer, bunnies and squirrels, Ali.” My wolf said before almost taking control of me as I smiled, rolling my eyes at her.

I gasped, is it really our mate? Is the Goddess really giving me this blessing at such a young age? From this scent, he must be the most beautiful man in the Realms.

Without losing any more time, I started to search for him. I am a very good tracker as well. I kept following his scent as it got stronger, almost intoxicating me at each step forward, and it didn’t take long for me to find him near a crystalline river.

We stared at each other, my pupils dilated and my hazel eyes got darker, I felt goosebumps in every inch of my being when we both muttered “Mine” at the same time. I couldn't hold back the claim.

He was the most gorgeous man, I didn’t even need to get to see any other man to make sure of it. He’s very tall, about 6’7 if not taller. His eyes' colors are different from each one, the right-sided eye is crystal blue and the left-sided eye is as green as this forest.

His messy dark medium-length hair was almost falling on his beard, his natural tan skin and his strong manly jaws made my lips almost quiver, he was wearing an unbuttoned bright blue dress shirt showing a bit of his bare and strong chest and sleeves folded up to his elbows. Then I noticed he had tattoos all over his arms and chest, so sexy, and I could see his strong arms fighting for space on his high arm and his abs that did nothing to hide, and casual black trousers. How did he get here in the middle of the forest dressing like that? Was he in a hurry for something? Not complaining though.

Suddenly, I noticed he looked disappointed. What? Am I not what he expected?

Hope whimpered in pain and it also broke my heart as I took a lungful of air to smell his scent again, maybe one last time, and just then I noticed he was not a werewolf, he didn’t smell like one. Did he expect me to be some other thing? I turned to my side because he was just standing there and I thought that if he wanted me, he would have said something already or kissed me. I’ve read a lot about mates’ bonds and its pull. I crossed my arms and put my hands on top of them as if I was trying to find any source of warmth among all this coldness.

Realization hit me when I reminded myself that we were near the Werewolves' Realm border, I didn’t care what he was, he could be a human for all I care, I couldn’t smell him and that was not a problem for me. Maybe one last chance to make sure…

I turned to glance at him again and smiled.

He came closer to me and I could see he was taller than I imagined. He took my small hands in his large ones, intertwining our fingers, and I felt tingles and electric jolts spreading all over my body as he took my hands to his lips slowly and kissed the back of my hand as softly as he could.

He kept staring deeply into my eyes and he kissed my other hand without looking away. Goddess, he was so intense. Where did he come from?

I felt like I could spend forever here by his side, I laid my head on his bare and hard chest to listen to his heart beat, he was real and he was all mine, he embraced me caressing my hair, suddenly like it was supposed to happen he t**s my head up with his index finger laid on my chin, he kept staring at my eyes as if he was looking right into my soul, he moved the back of his fingers to caress my face as his thumb found its way to trip slowly and softly on my lips, I couldn’t describe the multiple feelings, I might faint anytime now, I was so overwhelmed that I just leaned closer to his face, I thought he was going to slowly get closer and closer but like as if he was waiting for my signal, he couldn’t wait anymore and quickly pressed his lips against mine kissing me with so much passion, he nibbed my bottom lip and licked my lips asking for entrance, I easily oblige, his tongue caressed every inch of my mouth as his hands were running on my sides and I couldn’t help it but to also taste his sweetness with my tongue on his mouth while I wrapped my arms around his neck making us get even closer, I felt the hard on bulge inside his trouser against me, I felt myself intoxicated by him, my insides are quivering sending lust and desire moisture through my core, I’ve never felt so aroused as I am now.

He was still kissing me when he said seductively against my lips “If you don’t stop me now, I won’t be able to control myself from claiming you right here”.

I parted our kiss slowly and hesitantly, we were both pacing. His husky voice didn’t help me at all.

“What was that? A Dream?” I thought to myself.

Liam POV:



I just wanted to touch and taste every inch of her, taking my time to enjoy every second of this moment and keep every moment in my head. I didn’t want to miss a thing, I wanted to kiss her lips and taste her mouth. We haven’t even talked to each other yet. She was so beautiful and I was enjoying all the tingles and electric jolts spreading all over me. I was having a hard time controlling myself from taking her right here. I’ve never felt anything like that and was about to lose control over myself, not even a close feeling of it. I've always had control over everything.

I was so lost in the moment as I saw her slightly leaning closer to me, did she?

I wasn’t sure, but next time I noticed, I lost control and kissed her like there’s no tomorrow, my tongue explored every inch of her mouth.

I was already aroused and she wrapped her arms around my neck. I smelled her arousal and now we were pressing our bodies against each other and with my erection also grinding on her, I wanted to take her recklessly and feel her core clenching around my d**k. I never got to the edge of losing control of anything.

I fought for the little control I had but I didn’t want to put my lips away from her. “If you don’t stop me now, I won’t be able to control myself from claiming you right here.” I told her honestly.

She parted our kiss slowly but her eyes were still filled with lust.

Alec is whining happily inside my head; I couldn’t reject her. I couldn’t live without her in my life anymore, I didn’t even know how we’re going to do this.

All I want now is to enjoy this little piece of heaven in my life. I put my head in the crook of her neck and kissed her marking spot, she felt goosebumps all over her body and I had to hold her as if I couldn’t let her fall. But instead, it was like she melted completely right here in my arms and I loved her reaction to my touch and me alone. I won’t let anybody ever get to touch even a strand of her hair from now on.

Dragons are very possessive and intense when they find their mates. It’s a thousand times worse when it’s about the Kings.

“What’s your name?” She asked breathlessly.

“I’m Liam Venctury, how about you, mate?”

“Wow, even your name is graceful…” she blushed and chuckled like she didn’t even think about what she just said. I could use to see that every day in my life from now on.

“I’m sorry, I’m Alice Blackford, daughter of Alpha Randall Blackford from the Black Moon Pack.”

I froze and frowned. We heard awful stories about this Alpha and his Pack but nobody said he had got a daughter.

“THE Alpha Randall Blackford? I didn’t even know he had a daughter!”

She looked down sadly at my discontented way and just nodded. There was an awkward silence in the air until she broke it.

“He wasn’t always like that, you know? It seemed like the darkness took him over after my mom’s death, sooner or later he’ll come to his senses.” She chuckled more to reassurance herself.

I didn’t know what to tell her. Was it a good idea after all? She wasn’t just a she-wolf, she was the daughter of a wicked Alpha. I had to protect my kind, it was too dangerous, could I ever trust her?

I heard someone coming.

“Liam, what happened? You’re gone”, Prospero was apparently worried.

He stopped when he saw her. They both looked confused.

“Prospero, that’s Alice, my mate.”

I didn’t expect the huge grin on his face.

“Nice to meet you, Alice. The mate bond is a blessing by the Goddess, I hope you find your happiness together and face everything side by side. I’m Prospero, Liam’s second in command.” He held out his hand for her to shake, he acted like I'd told her what we are and what we’re doing in here.

“Don’t tell her anything, she’s the daughter of the Alpha of the Black Moon Pack” I mind-linked him and he gulped hard and frowned.

She responded by giving her hand as well, smiling but looking lost.

“It’s very nice to meet you” she was trying to be very nice even though her reaction was clearly confused.

I wondered how that cruel Alpha could have such a sweet and lovely daughter?

Something isn’t right.

“So, I can’t smell you both, it’s not like you’re standing here in front of me at all and I’m a wolf. I have a very high sense of smell, I can just smell my mate’s scent for obvious reasons, but if he wasn’t my mate, I’d be lost…so, what are you?” she asked, clearly confused about us and I didn’t know how to respond to that at all, I couldn’t snap out of it and tell her the true.

“I’m sorry, could we just…”I was about to say something when we heard the border’s security alarm and I could sense about 5 wolves approaching in just a couple of minutes. Prospero mind-linked me that the soldiers teleported to the Human Realm after I left for their safety and by Prospero’s order.

I was relieved but concerned.

We weren’t anywhere too near the borders. What the hell happened?

What was I going to do?
