Once Mr. Adams is out of sight, I lett myself fall back onto the grass. I won't admit it out loud, but despite being a little weird, he's actually quite attractive. And not just his looks. He has a certain attraction. I wonder if he felt that strange tingle too, and that's why he pulled his hand away so quickly. After a while, I get up and go home. My parents must be wondering where I am. Before I go in, I take a deep breath and prepare myself for what's coming. I'm going to get some lecture because I just left. "Iris, is that you?" I hear my mother ask. She sounds nervous. Slowly I walk into the room, besides to my parents there is someone else on the couch. "Mr. Adams? What are you doing here?" I ask suspiciously. This can never be good. "Iris... Please sit down." My father says, he also sounds nervous. I take a seat in the chair between the sofas. Mr. Adams looks compelling at my parents. I have no idea what's going on, but I've never seen my parents so nervous. "Are you going to tell me what's going on?" I ask if they stay silent. "Are you going to tell her, or am I?" Mr. Adam's urges. "Iris... There's something you should know about your parents." My father begins. I see him struggling to find the right words. "Honey, you have to remember that we weren't sure and that's why we didn't say it before." My mother says and she takes my hand. "Okay.... what is it?" I ask. When Mr. Adams thinks they're taking too long to answer he says "There's a reason for all the things you told me earlier tonight..." I look from him to my parents, still clueless as to what's going on. "Stop, we should be the ones to tell." My father stops him before he can go any further. "Okay..." My father says, sighing. "There's no easy way to say this...Iris... The reason why you've had an increased appetite, tiredness, and short temper over the past few days is because...because..." He says, but he has trouble talking further. "Because?!" I respond irritated. Then Mr. Adams takes my hand and I feel that strange tingle again. "Don't touch her! It's inappropriate." My mother says shocked. He pulls his hand back, the tingle disappears and I'm a little disappointed. "Iris, it's because your body is preparing to get your wolf. You are a werewolf." says Mr Adam eventually. I'm flabbergasted. "Sorry, what?!" I say and I have to laugh, this is not serious, right? But while I have to laugh, the rest just look at me seriously. "What, this isn't serious, is it?" I ask my parents, but they remain silent. "Mom, Dad? Come on, you guys are kidding." I'm still trying. "I'm sorry you had to find out like this." My father says embarrassed. "And how do you know this?" I ask Mr. Adams still shocked. I think I can guess the answer, but I need to hear it out loud. "Because I'm one too." He says like it's nothing. I open my mouth to say something but I'm too stunned to say anything. WTF. Mr. Adams reaches for my hand but pulls it back when he sees my mother's face. It takes me a while to get my mind sort of in order, I have so many questions. "If you suspected, why didn't you say anything?" I ask my parents. "Because nothing was certain. We were so happy when you came to us that we didn't care. It wasn't something we worried about. And still isn't. We're forbidden to talk about it if we weren't sure." My mother begins to explain. "That's because normal people should never know about our existence. Your parents knowing, is one of the few exceptions." Adds Mr. Adams and I nod in understanding. I turn my attention to Mr. Adams. "And how does it happen? Will I change at the first full moon, just like in the movie?" I ask and he starts to chuckle. "No, not really. You can forget most of what you think you know about werewolves. You don't change against your own will." He explains. "Then how does it happen?" I ask. "Usually a werewolf gets his or her wolf the day they turn 18." He tells. "Usually?" I ask for clarification. "The thing is, what your body is doing right now, preparing it? That really only takes a few days, a week at the most. So there are 2 options. Either your date of birth is wrong, and your actual birthday is sometime this week. Or, you are a special very powerful wolf." He explains and I look questioningly at my parents. "I'm sorry honey, we don't know." My mother apologizes. "How do we know which of the 2 it is?" I ask. "We'll have to wait and see." Mr. Adams answers. "Okay, assuming my date of birth is wrong, what exactly will happen when I get my wolf?" I ask. "You can compare it to a big headache. In most cases, it only lasts a few minutes. That's because you're going to share your body with another personality. When the transformation is complete, the pain is gone right away. You don't have to be scared when you hear a voice in your head. That's your wolf." He says. "One, and what happens if I'm the second, a powerful wolf?" I ask. "Pretty much the same, only a few days later, on your birthday." He explained. I try to contain everything. I don't know what to think of it all yet, it's a lot of information. "I know there's a lot on your plate all of a sudden. I'm going to say it again, you can't discuss this with anyone, not even your friends." He says seriously. I nod understandingly. It's almost midnight now and I'm starting to yawn. "You know what, come to me tomorrow after your last lesson and I'll tell you everything else you need to know. You don't have to do this alone, I'll help you." He offers, that's so sweet. "Thanks, I will." I answer with a small smile. We say goodbye and judging by his body language, he is about to me give a hug or something. But because of a look from my mother, he doesn't. She watches his movements anxiously. That must be because she also just found out that he is a werewolf. When I close the door, I walk back to the room and plop down on the couch. I still can't quite believe it. "Are you okay honey?" My mother asks and my father has a worried look in his eyes. "How do you think it's going?" I respond sarcastically and my mother looks at me in pain, which immediately makes me regret my comment. "I'm sorry, I kind of understand why you didn't say anything. I guess. But I don't know how I feel. I still have so many questions." I say honestly. "Yes I can imagine, I wish we could help you." My father says. "What do you actually know about wolves? You had a hunch, how can you know about the existence if ordinary people are not allowed to know?" I ask a little confused. "My sister, your aunt Daisy, lives with a wolf." My mother says. I actually want to ask more, but I can tell from the tone of her voice that she doesn't want to say much about it. "Oh okay." I answer. I get up and go to bed without saying much. Despite being very tired, I don't think I will sleep much. I still have so many questions.
