We entered the coffee house as chatter and warm aromas swam through the air. There was teens lounging on sofas, bean bags, and comfy oversize chairs. Other teens loitered around the bar and at the high top tables that lined the windows. "Do you want something to drink?" Duncan asked as he pulled me with him towards the bar. I stood looking up at the chalk board covered in different drinks with prices and colored drawings depicting some options. I settled for my usual Peppermint Hot Chocolate ,Duncan ordered some fancy espresso and payed for our drinks. Once we had our beverages Duncan laced his hand in mine and pulled me towards the back of the coffee house, Proving the layout to the play was larger than I initially thought. He pulled us past a small stage i imagined was used for poetry slams, as we went further to the back it grew darker with fairy lighting and tall floor lamps. We stopped in a corner where there was a oversize chair we both took a seat. I was very aware of his leg touching my thigh, causing my face to flush slightly. "So, How was Summer?" he asked taking a sip from his small cup. "It was good, i stayed in town like most summers and hung out with the girls." I answered looking around at other teens around talking, it was a lot quieter back here. "Sounds like it was fun." He said moving his arm over my shoulders causing me to move even closer to him. His eyes reflected the fairy lights above us. I looked away afraid to stare to long. "How was your summer ?" i asked as i grew more nervous. He proceeded to tell me about his trip to Germany over the summer with his older brothers. He gushed about the sights and the bars they visited . His eyes lite up like he was back over seas. I continued to listen to him speak about his adventurous summer as i sipped on my Hot Chocolate. after a little while me and Duncan was laughing and talking about nothing and everything, when he asked the one question i didn't really have an answer to . "So what are you doing after high school?" the smile still lingered on his face. I once again had no idea how to answer this question so i just shrugged and replied with "Nothing is really for sure yet, what about you?" His eyes lit up once again as he dove into telling me about how he plans to travel the world and do something great, how he wanted to help those in need and how he still might go through med school to be a doctor. He started listing off all the places he plans to go and sights he plans to see when a familiar voice found its ways to my ears. I turned to a group of girls surrounding a sofa to the left of us. Only one person i knew caused a stir like that. I could still hear Duncan's voice but my focus was on the couch across the room. As girls shifted and adjusted i saw tousled blonde hair, soon i also saw piercing blue eyes looking through the girls straight at me. My breath hitched in my throat as i realized he was watching me. I looked away as quickly as i could but it was too late he already knew i was looking at him. "What do you think?" I heard Duncan ask. I turned my focus back on him and mentally shook myself. "I'm sorry, what?" He looked at me and c****d his head slightly "Are you going to audition for the play?" My mind moved fast as i wondered how long he had been done talking about his future plans. "I don't think i have a choice." I replied feeling more nervous.. He laughed softly as he looked into my eyes. " I heard it's a love." He moved closer to me. I glanced back over to the couch and Asher was gone. "We could audition for the leads together." He placed his hand on mine. My eyes wondered around the room searching for that Blonde hair. "I think it would be nice to get closer, and act opposite of each other, We'd have to spend a lot of time together rehearsing." I couldn't find him anywhere, had he left? "What do you think?" Duncan's voice came from right next to my ear, I could feel his breathe on my neck. I turned towards him pulling away slightly. "What?" I asked confused again as to our conversation. I looked over his shoulder and saw Asher leaning up against the wall arms over his chest. There was a unreadable expression on his face. We made eye contact and a smile tugged at the corner of his mouth. My eyebrow shot up with a questioning look just as Duncan's mouth meet mine. I was completely shocked as he moved his hand to my hair. I eyes closed at first as an automatic reaction and I gave into the kiss for a few moments before my senses came back and I pulled away from him. Hurt was visible across his face, but he soon removed it and replaced it with a smile. "Sorry, I should of asked." He sounded nervous as he apologized. My eyes moved back to the wall behind him but it was now bare. "No It's fine, just threw me off, I was under the impression it was a friends date ." I said looking back to his face. "No worries, come on ill take you home." He stood up and waited for me to do the same and as we started walking back towards the front of the shop he laced his fingers in mine. I looked over to him and he answered me with a wink. Something that felt like butterflies fluttering stirred inside of me, turning into a swarm as i thought back to the kiss we just shared. I obviously liked him, so why did I pull away from him? My mind roamed over the memory of Asher's smirk. As me and Duncan moved to the car. Stop thinking about another guy while your with a guy , I told myself. When the car started to merge off of the curb Duncan placed his hand on my thigh. It caused me to jump slightly, I've never felt someones touch so intimately before. He noticed my reaction and moved his hand down closer to my knee. I didn't say anything because there was something exciting about having Duncan's attention but I was also a little nervous about the pace he was trying to move with me. I had been kissed before, a few times actually but I was still a virgin and hadn't much experience going further than maybe a boob grab. Not that I wasn't interested in doing so, it had just never felt right to me before, and im not sure it feels right now, but I know it's not something I'd be ready to explore.
