Rounding the corner onto Clerkenwell Road, after a very packed tube ride from her home in Ruislip, Stella wasn’t happy to be going back to work. She had just returned from the Seychelles. Two weeks of lying in the sun and dining on seafood had refreshed her, but still she was uncomfortable with the job. Yes, it paid very well indeed; she was moving into her new office today decorated and furnished to her taste, but it was the nature of the new work that disturbed her.
