“My cousin thought we were finding actual treasure,” said Gabe. He sounded more like normal. “There was a family rumor about a dead relative…”
“He wanted money he thought we’d found, so he threatened us with the gun. He tripped and fell down the slope,” said Ian, relieved to see the cop was accepting the story without question. That he’d been called out to geocaching troublemakers before seemed to be in their favor.
The cop got their names and addresses. He sighed.
“Look, you geopeople need to be more careful. You end up causing a lot of issues.”
“He was the one pointing a gun at us!” Gabe had moved onto being pissed.
Ian would have intervened but fire and rescue had shown up and took over the situation. The cop seemed less interested in them now that he’d heard what they’d had to say
