Ian slid out of bed, refilled both their mugs, and expected to find Gabe on the phone when he got back, but instead Gabe was propped back on his palms, casually surveying Ian’s mess of a room.
“What?”
“You buy a lot of needlepoints for Ellen but you don’t have anything hanging on your walls,” said Gabe.
“I want my deposit back.”
“You should move somewhere they let you put stuff on the walls.”
“You have someplace in mind?” asked Ian, wondering if somehow they were having the let’s-move-in-together conversation. Not what he’d been preparing himself for. But Gabe had a sip of coffee and changed the subject.
“Are we meeting her today? Ellen.”
