They exited out the back of the antiques store, Ian intending to cut across the tiny lot between it and a bank to get to the café faster. His mind raced with wild theories. These needlepoints had to be of value, as Ellen had said, but what that was—well, he hoped Gabe would tell him the truth. The sound of a car speeding up was followed almost immediately by Gabe swearing and grabbing his arm. Ian’s initial reaction was to pull away, but the panic in his mind had him following where Gabe led.
