"Can You keep a secret?"

201 Words
Can you keep a secret?. Is what she said to me. "Can you keep a secret and promise not to tell a soul?" she said more urgently this time. I stared at her dumbfounded I have never seen her in such a troubled state before. She looked shaken up as if the outcome had a terrible impact on her. Her eyes were big and filled with fear, bloodshot they looked desperate seeking for help. Her breathing heavy and ragged. Her face, ears, and neck flushed red. Her hair unkempt and in disarray.  Her clothes were disordered and tainted with dirt. Her body looked tired and limp like she had been running for hours on end without any breaks, water, or food. The more I looked into her eyes, the more I could she was on the verge of tears and had been torn to no end. Whatever she had seen or heard did a large amount of damage to her soul. The last time I saw her, she was her natural, happy, and joyful self. She looked deeper into my eyes and a bit calmer this time and repeated her question she had asked moments before. "So, can you keep a secret?."
