A FORBIDDEN KISS

560 Words
The days blurred into nights, and the nights into endless longing. With Damien gone, the mansion became a hollow shell, too big for one heart to bear. And though Elena tried to keep her distance, every quiet moment drew her closer to the storm she’d been trying to escape. The storm had a name. Aiden. It started with a chance encounter—or so she told herself. A walk in the garden to clear her head. Aiden’s figure appearing through the hedge, as if summoned by her need. The sky was bruised with twilight, and the air between them felt heavy, charged. “Elena,” he said, breathless, as though he’d been searching for her. Her heart thundered in her chest. She should turn back. She should run. But instead, she stood there, rooted, watching him approach. “You shouldn’t be here,” she whispered, but even as she spoke, she took a step toward him. “I couldn’t stay away,” Aiden confessed, his voice low, raw. “I’ve tried, but you haunt me.” He stopped just inches from her. The scent of him—warm leather, rain, danger—wrapped around her like a promise. His gaze roamed her face, her lips, and lingered on her eyes, as if searching for permission. She gave it without a word. Aiden’s hand rose, trembling, and cupped her cheek. His thumb brushed her bottom lip, and the world seemed to hold its breath. Every thought, every fear, melted away in that instant. And then he kissed her. It was nothing like the tentative brushes they’d stolen in the dark. This was hunger unleashed. A claim, a confession, a surrender all at once. His mouth crushed hers with a need that had been building for far too long. She responded in kind, her arms winding around his neck, pulling him closer, as if closeness could erase the guilt, the fear, the world beyond this kiss. Aiden’s hands slid down her back, splaying at her waist, anchoring her to him. The heat of him seared through the thin barrier of her dress, setting fire to her skin, her soul. Their lips parted only for breath, and then found each other again, deeper, more desperate. “Elena,” he murmured against her mouth, his voice ragged, his self-control unraveling. “Tell me to stop. Please… before I can’t.” But she didn’t. She couldn’t. Instead, she traced the line of his jaw, the curve of his neck, memorizing him. “Don’t stop,” she whispered. The words sealed their fate. He kissed her again, slower now, savoring her, as if he knew this moment might be all they’d ever have. The garden around them faded, the night wrapped them in shadows, and for that stolen heartbeat, they were the only two souls in the world. When they finally pulled apart, breathless, trembling, reality came crashing back. “Elena,” Aiden said, his forehead resting against hers, his eyes closed as if in pain. “What are we doing?” “Something we can’t undo,” she said, her voice barely audible. They stood there in the dark, caught between right and wrong, their hearts too loud in the silence. And though they parted that night, both knew the truth: there would be no turning back. The first forbidden kiss had sealed their destiny.
