Chapter 2
SOFIA PETROVA
I have been locked up in this hellhole of a room for hours with no food or water.
I stayed curled on the bed, knees hugged to my chest tightly.
I haven't seen Dimitri nor anyone else. I wonder what he brought me here for. What is he going to do to me? He isn't going to kill me, is he?
Of course, he won't. You are his price. He wouldn't have gone through the stress of bringing you over here if he was going to kill you.
The door creaked open, and my breath hitched as the man from earlier walked in.
I scrambled back fearfully, my body almost trembling.
His eyes swept over me for a moment like he was checking me out, then he said, “come with me."
I stood hesitantly and followed him as he stepped out.
He led me to one of the rooms, and knocked gently on the door.
"She's here, boss.” He said, leaning towards the door.
"Come in.” Dimitri's voice echoed from inside, then the man opened the door.
He pushed me inside and locked the door behind me.
My jaw dropped at the sight of the room. It was at least three times bigger than the room I share with my brother back home.
A king-sized bed laid in the center with a chandelier light ascending from the ceiling.
My eyes swept around the room, catching the sight of the portrait of a crimson tattooed back hanging on the wall.
My eyes finally found him.
Dimitri.
He stood by the window, shirtless. A large crimson tattoo covered his back. The same one as the one I saw in the portrait.
Perhaps that was him in the portrait.
He didn't turn to look at me. Not even acknowledging my presence. I didn't say anything either.
After a long silence, he drew the curtain close, then turned around, his gaze finding mine… his eyes so dark and intimidating, they sent shivers down my spine.
“Strip…” he said casually, going to sit on the bed.
I stiffened.
"What?”
"I won't repeat myself.” He said icily.
I swallowed hard.
Is he a creep? There's no way in hell I'm stripping in front of him.
I cleared my throat.
"I can't do that.” I said, my voice almost shaking.
His brows drew closer, then his eyes darkened.
"It's… it's not only inappropriate, but also a violation of my…” before I could finish speaking, he stood and crossed to my side, grabbing my arm.
"You belong to me now!” He said just one word, and my body went jelly with fear.
"And you are going to do what I ask…” and with that, he threw me onto the bed and climbed up.
"Wh… what are you doing?" I shrieked, but he held my hands and pinned them above my head with one hand, his other hand free hand unbuckling his belt.
What the f**k is he about to do? Force himself on me?
"Let me go! You can't do this to me!” I cried out, struggling underneath him, and the moment his grip loosened on me, I yanked his hands off and pushed him with all the strength in me.
I rolled out of the bed, breathing heavily.
His eyes burned with rage. I knew I was making a mistake by refusing him, but f**k it! I won't go down without a fight.
My eyes scanned the room for any weapon, then I saw a bottle on the nightstand.
I grabbed the bottle and slammed it against the wall, leaving a sharp piece of the neck in my hand.
He scoffed. "You're tough… I like it.”
"One step forward, and I'm going to drive this through your neck…” I threatened, as if I could do it.
He laughed hysterically, then stopped abruptly, his eyes darkening.
He crossed the room, and before I could react, his palm cracked against my cheek so hard, my eyes spun and I crashed against the floor.
Pain exploded through me as he grabbed my neck and yanked me to my feet. My spine collided with the wall as he slammed me hard against it.
I coughed, trying to catch my breath.
“I am letting you off because it's your first day. Pull that trick again, and you'll have your body delivered to your wretched mother in a body bag." He gritted.
He tossed me on the floor, then walked back to his closet and grabbed a black suit.
“Anybody there?" He called out as he buttoned his shirt.
The door clicked then creaked open before the man from earlier walked in.
“Yes, boss." He bowed slightly.
“Lock her up."
And just like that, the man yanked me up and dragged me out of the room like I was just a sack of rice.
I couldn't resist. I was too weak to, and not that it would change anything anyway.
He dragged me to the basement and tied me tightly to a pillar.
I broke down in tears as I watched the man leave.
‘I’ll get you out in one month. Just endure for one month’
I closed my eyes, resting my head against the wall.
I had imagined everything happening to me, but definitely not being used as a collateral to an old man who wants to sleep with me.
My mind drifted to Alexei, and my chest tightened painfully.
I hope he's okay. I wouldn't be surprised if mom doesn't give him his medicine.
I'm not sure I'm ever going to forgive her for this, but I swear if anything happens to Alexei… I don't even want to imagine it.
Footsteps echoed on the stairs of the basement, then he walked in graced in all black.
One of the three men I saw earlier.
“Dimitri is not someone you want to mess with…” that was the first thing he said.
Not even a hi.
I couldn't tell which one of them, until he stepped closer.
It was the one that stepped out of the kitchen.
“Who are you?" I asked, but he tossed a nylon in front of me, and a dough rolled out of it.
"I didn't know what you would like, so I grabbed what I could lay hands on.” He turned behind me and carefully untied the rope.
I dropped to my knees and grabbed the dough, tearing at it hungrily.
That bastard didn't give me food all day. I wonder how long he was going to keep me here without food.
He watched me as I devoured the dough, then he scoffed. “Careful. You're going to choke if you keep eating like that."
I paused and stared at him. I can endure literally anything, but hunger.
"Have you been starved before?” I asked, and he raised a brow.
I continued eating, and once done, I grabbed the bottle of water he brought, and downed half of it.
“You haven't answered me… Who are you?” I asked again.
"Nikolai… My name is Nikolai."
I slowly nodded.
“Are you here on the same course?”
His brows knitted.
"Were you also brought here against your will?”
His eyes lingered on me for a moment, then he nodded.
That vile bastard.
"What about the other two? Are you all siblings? Did he force the three of you here? What about your family?" I asked in a single breath, but he stood up and smiled.
“You should stop messing with Dimitri if you want to stay alive.”
He turned to leave.
"You…untied me. Aren't you going to get into trouble for doing this?”
He paused and looked back at me over his shoulder. "You can go to your room.”
Then he left.
Now that I'm free, I need to find my way out of here.
Who knows what that old man will do to me again?
I returned to my room and stayed until it was almost dark.
I carefully opened the door and paced in the hallway first.
Nobody was watching.
I tiptoed down the hallway, and in minutes, I was running fast towards the gate, my heart pounding hard.
Just as I almost reached the gate, a voice echoed behind me.
“Trying to escape, huh?"
I halted abruptly…
