Chapter 4
SOFIA PETROVA
“What the hell do you think you're doing?"
My breath stopped, fingers freezing over the piano.
I turned.
The blond-haired man stood at the door, hands in his pockets, and eyes burning with rage as they locked on me.
My eyes lingered on him. I didn't get to stare long enough earlier, but now that he was standing close, his eyes weren't just cold and intimidating… They were also charming.
Sharp jawline and lips to die hard for.
Get it together, Sofia! I scolded myself before turning to face him.
"H…hi…” I waved nervously, my chest pounding.
"Are they yours?” I glanced at the instruments and back at him.
"Do you play music? I love music…" I laughed nervously.
Now, that's the dumbest thing anyone would do in this situation.
YOU SHOULD BE APOLOGIZING, SOFIA!
His face hardened.
I swallowed hard.
“Uhm… about that… I'm really sorry. I didn't mean to trespass. I just wanted to sneak a peek, and I… I didn't know they were working…”
That's more like it, Sofia.
“Do you go around touching other people's stuff?” He asked icily, straightening up.
I blinked.
"But I just said I was sorry. I didn't mean to…”
He suddenly crossed the room and stood close to me.
My breath caught.
My eyes were just at his chest level, but I looked up to meet his gaze.
He stared… no, his eyes were literally preying on me.
My heart raced, a familiar tingling feeling building inside me, but before I could name what the f**k it was, his voice cut through rudely.
"If you want to last here, then you better learn not to overstep your boundaries…”
"Know your place here.” Then he walked past me, brushing shoulders against me.
I huffed, turning to find him wiping off the piano like my hands left dirt on it.
"You didn't have to be that rude when I already apologized, you know?”
His hand froze on the piano, and for a moment, he didn't move.
"What? Know my place and don't overstep my boundaries?” I huffed. "Dude, I don't have a place or boundaries here, and I don't even want to have one."
I hate rude people the most, and dude is already hopping on my bad side.
"What?” He turned, raising a brow.
I could swear no one has ever spoken to him in that manner before because of the way he looked shocked.
I should've just walked away, but the burning anger inside me didn't let me.
"Do you know who I am?” He gritted, and I scoffed.
Who still asks that silly question in this age and time?
"Yes… You are the replica of that old…”
I almost said ‘old ugly bastard’, but paused and breathed.
"That old heartless man.”
His eyes burned with rage.
That hit a nerve. Just what I wanted.
"Don't compare me to him!" He backed me against the wall, his body lingering on mine.
I hated the way my body reacted to him in the same way it did to his brothers.
I should have pushed him away, but my body betrayed me.
I loved the way his body lingered on mine.
How he looked at me with so much rage in his eyes yet they made me melt.
How his breath was rough and warm against my face.
And this strong pull that I couldn't resist.
Oh lawd have mercy.
"Wh…why? Isn't he your father?” I huffed, my voice cracking shakily.
"Besides, you're acting like him, so it's hard not to…” my breath caught as he stepped closer, his body touching mine now.
The door burst opened at that moment, and the two brothers barged in.
"Viktor?” Nikolai called surprisingly, and Viktor glared at me before stepping away.
Nikolai's eyes found mine, and his brows drew closer.
"Were you flirting with our father's woman?” Ivan scoffed, and Viktor glared at him angrily.
Ivan’s eyes shifted to me, a flirtatious smirk curling his lips as he said, “looks like I'm not the only one that finds you interesting… Am I?"
His voice was so soft and teasing that it made my abdomen twitch.
"Not everyone is a freak like you, Ivan.” Viktor gritted, and Ivan's eyes shifted coldly.
Nikolai rolled his eyes like a frustrated older brother that's already tired of his brothers’ bantering.
Their eyes finally shifted to me, and my skin tingled.
My heart raced as my eyes moved in between them, trying to resist the invisible force that kept pulling me towards them.
Then a voice screamed in my head.
DON'T FIGHT IT, SOFIA!
