“Where’s the boss?” Reid demanded as he stepped into the mafia headquarters. One of Luciano’s men shifted uneasily, his eyes flicking toward the corridor that led to the torture room. Reid followed the glance, already shaking his head, and strode in that direction without another word. The screams reached him before the door did—raw, broken cries echoing down the hallway. Reid shoved the door open. A cigarette hung from Luciano’s lips as he worked with merciless focus. He had the culprit by the wrist, twisting it at an unnatural angle—far enough to make the man howl, not enough to break it. Luciano released him only to slam a brutal punch into his ribs, then another into his face. The man collapsed to his knees, blood spilling from his mouth as he begged incoherently for mercy. Lucia
