Chapter 6

Chapter 6 Sabre I arrived back at the apothecary at 8pm sharp. I decided to go casual for dinner cause it’s not like there’s anything really fancy here in silver city. A pair of causal black slacks and a black button down with my hair in a braid down my back. I was nervous and hoped, Rainbow like what I was wearing. I knocked on the door as the sign read the store was closed. When Rainbow opened the door, my breath was taken away. She was in a very form faltering black dress, that showed off her slim figure with her being almost as tall as me I just knew her legs were amazing under the dress. I smiled at her and handed her the flowers I had brought her. “You look amazing” I told her. “Thank you. You don’t look so bad there yourself. Plus, I love a gentleman who brings flowers.” She replied. “Theres also sprigs or eucalyptus, lavender and rosemary in there too.” I said with a smile. “Aww you know the way to my heart. So where are we going?” she asked me. “Well, I heard there is a nice French bistro somewhere around town that I wanted to try.” “Oh yes it has great food, it give you a different choice than the southwestern cuisine that is usually around.” With that we headed off. I had rented a car just for the date. Nothing fancy, just a small compact from enterprise. Rainbow didn’t seem to mind, and I liked that about her. Who the hell am I kidding I liked everything I knew so far about her even the witch bits. We arrived at the bistro and were promptly seated. The restaurant was clean, and the wait staff was nice. The looks that both me and Rainbow were getting was starting to irritate me. “So, what should I order?” I asked rainbow. “I have no clue” she told me. “Really you haven’t been here before?” I asked. “No, I pretty much stick to the Mexican food or food that I cook myself.” “What kind of food do you cook? I asked her. “Well, I am well versed in American cuisine and Asian foods thanks to my mother. As well as some Puerto Rican dishes thanks to a friend of mine and currently I am learning how to cook southern soul food thanks to another friend’s husband.” “Wow that’s amazing” I said. “You know she said I had to figure out your name through your credit card receipt in the store we never really introduced ourselves” she giggled. Oh, s.hit I thought to myself no we never did. “Hello Rainbow,” I laughed “I am Samuel Phan.” I introduced myself, taking her hand and kissing the top of it. Her blush showed me she liked the attention I was given her. “How did you figure out my name?” she asked. “Well, the ranger guy said your name is rainbow plus your shop is rainbows apothecary so I figured it out that way.” “Ah I see” she laughed. “Now the big question do you know how to cook?” She asked me. “I do actually. I picked up a few good recipes from my travels here and there. I make a decent bangers and mash.” I said she looked at me with her eyebrows raised and I explained the sausage and potato dish I had learned recently to make while in London. We chit chatted and for a while until our food was delivered and we started eating. The food was good for not being in France and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Though I don’t know if it really was the food or the company. Talking to Rainbow was easy I had to wonder if it was the mate bond or just her easy personality. She told me how she grew up as an only child but had a group of friends who she considered sisters. Two of them had recently married to men who she considered like brothers. That must be the alpha and gamma couples I had seen in the pack. She told me of the loss of her mother and my heart hurt for her when she told me she was murdered but the killer was still at large. I had to find out who killed her and bring justice to them. The pain they have given my mate will be avenged. I had to shake myself from my thoughts before I let something slip that I shouldn’t. After we ate, we took the car for a cruise around town and ended up at a nice scenic look out. It was quiet with the forest scenery all around us. We continued to talk about random stuff. Like how I am the middle child of three and a half of my fathers’ children. Explaining my father was hard but I wanted her to know as much about me as I could. “So will we be doing this again?” she asked me as we leaned against the hood of my car looking at the stars in the sky. “I would love to get to know you more. I feel connected to you like I haven’t felt for someone else” I said hoping not to scare her away. She turned to look into my eyes, and I was mesmerized by hers. There was a part of me that wanted her to know I was her mate and another that prayed the contacts held up their enchantment. She leaned in and kissed me. I wasn’t a virgin, but this is the first time that it was the woman who made the first move and not me. I felt myself getting lost in the kiss, her scent circling around me calling out to my feral nature. I felt my talons starting to scratch the tips of my fingers and had to pull back before I got too worked up. I ended the kiss and rested my forehead unto hers. “I want to be able to savor you not some wham bam thank you ma’am on some lookout spot like horny teenagers.” I told her as I tried to control my breathing. “Well, aren’t you even a little horny?” she sassily asked me. I guide her hand down to the front of my slacks. “Does this answer your questions.” I asked as she cupped my hard d**k through my pants. “Very much so, so do you want to go back to my place or yours?” she asked. Just before I could answer the question my phone rang. I was going to ignore it but only Li, Jian or Nimcha could be calling me so I answered it. Rainbow The date was great. He showed up looking like a whole snack and then some Nola would say. His hair hanging down low to his waist. I was itching to run my hands through it. He had a nice Toyota corolla which he explained was a rental. I asked him what he drove normally as the corolla didn’t really seem like him. He told me he didn’t really drive a car. But he had a Ducati motorcycle to get around with when he needed it. I asked him where it was, and he told me back home. I tried to get him to say where home was, but he dodged the question expertly. I didn’t want to push so I dropped it for now. Apparently, Mr. Samuel didn’t like to stay in one place for long. He frequently traveled the world for business purposes. We talked about family and growing up and I almost slipped a couple of times and said pack and mates. It was so easy to talk to him I almost forgot myself a couple of times, it was scary. We laughed at the fact that we hadn’t really exchanged names before the date and how we each figured out each other’s names. Me from his credit card receipt and him from the apothecary’s store sign and James. He said my name fit me and that I was a mysterious light who brought luck to all that seen me. This man had my blushing like a schoolgirl. The dinner was delicious and enchanting. When we left, he asked was there anywhere else we could go to, he didn’t want to end the night yet. I directed him to the scenic look out so that we could talk more. We ended up making out like highschoolers. It was thrilling I wanted him bad and would have ridden him right there on top of the hood of his rented Toyota corolla if it wasn’t for him and his phone stopping me. I leaned back as he answered his phone admiring his physique. At first, he seemed at ease but as she continued the conversation, I could tell how agitated he became. His shoulders stiffened up and his hand kept clenching and unclenching from a fist. He was speaking in some unknown language to me. When he finally hung up, he squared his shoulders as he turned to me. “Hey beautiful I hate to end the evening like this, but I have to go and handle some unforeseen business right now.” I pouted not really wanting to end the date like this, but I understood. “That’s ok you can just drive me back to the apothecary” I said. “When can we have our next date?” he asked. “Oh, you still want a second date” I asked him playfully. “Of course, that phone call had nothing to do with you and hopefully us.” “Us?” I asked “Yes, I hope we can get to know each other better and grow what’s between us into something great.” He said. I just looked into his eyes wishing that I saw the spark of recognition of him maybe being my beloved, but there was nothing. Just the cognac color of his eyes. “I will let you know.” I said “give me your phone” I told him. he hesitated for a split second before handing it to me already on an add contact page. There I put in my contact information and told him to call or text me whenever. We got back into the car and before I knew it, we were back in front of the apothecary. Both of us seemingly unwilling to end the date. He got out of the car and walked me to the front of the store. Before I could turn away, he grabbed me by the waist pulling me into him and kissed me so passionately it made my toes curl and my panties wet. “Umm I really have to go.” He said as he broke the kiss leaving me just a little dazed. “Yeah, you said that.” I grinned at him before slowly stepping out of his embrace to open the shops door. “I’ll call you tomorrow”, he said. “I’ll be waiting”. I told him before going into the apothecary. I watched from the window as he drove off before teleporting back to the coven house. I appeared in my room and as I turned around, I was almost scared half to death as I seen the goddess Hecate laying on my bed flipping through my mother’s grimoire.
