Backwards intime to save the world

Genesis

Shocked at the sight before her, Shari took a couple steps back in utter confusion. She believed Ren's story, but at the same time, in the back of her head she was hoping it would never happen.

"Are those karma beasts?" she said stuttering a little.

Ren was still unresponsive, he had completely passed out from the shock while still kneeling there with both eyes opened.

Shari moved him to the couch with much ease, since she was more than a little too freakishly strong for her size. She then had him lay down and use her lap as a pillow, hoping to offer him comfort to ease some of the stress if even a little.

After about a hour or so Ren opened his eyes, to his pleasant surprise, as he looked up two giant boobs stared right back at him. To say he wasn't a little tempted to touch would be a lie, however a flashback of Shari in the alleyway and one of a certain statement she made recently made him keep his hands in check.

"How long was I out for?"

"oh Ren you're finally awake, you've been sleeping for 3 days"

"What?! 3days? why didn't you wake me?"

Completely shocked by what Shari said, Ren lunged himself upwards which resulted in him plastering his face in her boobs.

"ouch!, that hurts you i***t"

Shari said as she slammed his head back down in her lap.

"I was only joking, it's only been about a hour"

"Just a hour huh, that's good news"

Ren was notably alot calmer than before he passed out. It was as if he was a completely different person.

"were those birds magic beasts Ren? I mean they had to be right? some of them were abnormally huge"

"No they weren't actually, they are completely normal birds, well maybe normal is not the right word to use here."

"How can that be?"

"Karma beasts give off a certain energy, when normal animals become too exposed to that energy, it causes them to evolve in various ways. One of those ways include growing in size. However, if they are exposed to too much energy they could die.

The birds and I assume all the other animals by now, are sensing the Energy in the air and are starting to migrate to a place where they feel is safe from the energy, soon those places will no longer exist.

The world will be completely filled with the energy, By that time it will start feeling normal to the animals, which would all have evolved in some way by then. Also that's when the karma beasts will start appearing."

"So Ren doesn't that mean, the Karma Beast energy is dangerous to us humans as well?"

"Normally it's in too small a dose to affect humans, although through alot of experimentations, MATA found a way to use it in high concentration and made evolved soldiers"

"well I guess that's one less thing to worry about. Now, have you-"

"I know what you're about to ask shari, the answer is yes, I've made up my mind to save the world"

Shari put on a big smile of approval

"so what changed your mind?"

"Am I not allowed to change my mind? You were pestering me to and I finally did so shut up and just be happy"

"Pestering? also if you're going to talk to me like that you're no longer welcome in my lap, get your big head up"

She was forcibly removing him from her lap before even finishing her sentence.

"Hey Shari,... I'm sorry you had to see me like that"

"Don't worry about it Ren, you're only human, it's understandable you'd behave this way. After all, to you the destruction of the world was only a couple days ago. I promise to be your shoulder to lean on until this is all over"

"You're being so sweet right now that it's hard to believe you were the same person in the alley, I still find it hard to understand why you're willing to go this far for me too"

"Actually Ren, I'd like to apologize about that alley incident too, I never wanted you to see me like that"

" It doesn't matter, scenes like that will be popular around the world in no time. also I don't care why you're willing to help me because I'll need as much help as I can possibly get if I'm going to seriously do this"

" Do you have a plan?"

"There are three options we have to save the world. We either destroy every karma beast that appears or we find a way to remove all the kBE from the air, because if my hunch is correct removing it will stop them from being born."

"You said we had three ways, but that was only two."

"The third option is whatever new plan I come up with along the way"

Completely speechless by that statement, Shari smiled and shaked her head. It was as if she was thinking to herself that was such a Ren thing to say.

They kept the conversation going, discussing the steps they were going to be taking in the near future. On the top of the agenda was the formation of a Team that would aid in the saving of the world.

Ren considered recruiting people whose strength was world renowned from his past life, like Aldrako or Malvo for example. However, he soon decided against it saying they would still grow powerful regardless, so it'd give mankind a whole better fighting chance if he created all new powerful warriors who could reach their level.

The world would be completely filled with Karma beast energy two weeks after the Genesis, so Ren and Shari had to find atleast a couple companions within that time frame. It was not easy, especially seeing that other than the thugs, which Shari killed all of, there weren't any citizens with fighting potential in Tompa.

The Genesis referred to the first time the blood red night sky was casted onto the world. The moons changed to a bright red colour which resonated throughout the entire night sky. That combined with the strange behaviour of the animals all over the world, made alot of people believe it was the coming of the lord, and that's how it got it's name. It was a bit fitting though because that night really was the beginning of everything.

After failing to find a suitable candidate after three days of scouting Tompa for a possible recruit. They decided to venture into nearby towns to see if they'd have better luck. Tompa was a very small secluded town way on the outskirts on the map of the southern territory, with the closest town traveling east being at the very least a 4 day carriage ride away.

The cost of a carriage ride for such a distance would be around 2 gold coins which translates to roughly 100 silver coins.

Ren and Shari combined couldn't come up with not even half that money. Even if they did, a small town like Tompa doesn't have much carriages they could use anyways. So they had no way of traveling, atleast that's what they thought at first but soon realized that a certain someone should possess a carriage and went to talk to him.

This certain someone was the man from the bar where they first met. As soon as Ren entered the bar the old man rushed him immediately and apologized for not believing him and laughing at him. He really was a good man, he started saying if there was anything he could do to help the future saviour of mankind he shouldn't hesitate to ask. Ren couldn't help but laugh to himself saying the Genesis must've given him a real scare for him to be saying this now.

Not letting this opportunity pass though, Ren got straight to the point and asked for a carriage. The old man explained that because he runs the bar he indeed had a carriage which he used to import his alcohol from the capital. He couldn't give it away though, because he would be left with nothing seeing that he only had a single one.

On the other hand, the carriage was leaving for the city of Kongo the next day to pick up alcohol. Although it was in a completely different direction than he was originally heading and would take a extra two days to reach, Ren immediately agreed to tag along. The bar owner, who officially introduced himself as kanzaki, said he'd allow Ren to travel on the carriage free of charge but in return he had to save the world. He smiled and accepted the deal.

After reaching back at Ren's house, Shari asked why he so easily changed course like that, and if he was up to something. He explained to her that even though the first recorded karma beast appeared in the Colburn kingdom from the eastern territory. while on his travels in his past life he had to take the same route which they were going to take now, when he decided to migrate in order to get in on the beast hunting action.

He then continued to explain that on this journey he passed alot of completely destroyed ghost towns. At that time he had never traveled those lands before so he didn't think much of it, but now that he thought about it, it could have been the work of a karma beast. which means beasts were popping up around other parts of the world the same time they did in the Colburn kingdom or maybe even before.

The change in course could increase their chance of encountering a kbeast early and if they managed to defeat it they could take the lead in the acquiring of the magic skills.

In the blink of an eye it was already the next morning. To increase the amount of distance they would spend travelling in the daylight, they decided to leave way before sunrise. Ren who was not much of a morning person, had to be dragged out of bed by Shari just to make it to the carriage on time, so he fell asleep as soon as they got into the carriage.

Kanzaki tasked one of his employees, Johnny, with the role of carriage driver. He was a tall bald man who wore a brown shirt which he gave up on rolling the long sleeves up half way, a brown hat, black pants and black cow boy boots. He didn't speak much, but whenever he did he always spoke extremely politely.

The carriage was in no way lacking in size. It wasn't meant for carrying passengers, however they added in a seat for Shari and Ren to sit for the journey. Even so, behind that seat, where Ren was now taking a nap, was still enough room for 5 more people to join him with no complaints for space.

After about 2 hours of traveling, the sun finally came up. Shari was a big fan of sunrises so she enjoyed watching as the sun peaked it's head over the mountains, then began illuminating the entire sky very much. She was a little sad that Ren didn't get to see it with her.

About two hours after the sunrise Ren finally woke up, complaining about how uncomfortable it was to sleep in a moving carriage. Completely ignoring him, Shari began telling him how he just missed the most beautiful sunrise ever only to get ignored herself.

They were a good distance out now to the point where they started seeing other small villages along the way, which they stopped at in order to purchase food to eat while at the same time giving the horses their well deserved rest.

When it came to night time, they stopped the carriage, and slept inside as the bright red moon shone down on them.

On their second night of traveling they were attacked by bandits. Shari and Ren made quick work of them and ended up robbing them instead. After counting up all the money they got from the bandits they ended up with about 45 silver coins and 20 copper coins.

A little shocked at Ren's fighting abilities shari offered a sparing match to see which was stronger. A sparing match which Ren shut don't immediately without even giving it a single thought. He was a little surprised too at how much he was still capable of combat wise without the use of skills, since in his past life before he got skills he couldn't defend himself at all.

The next day went without issue however, the day after that was the day they reached the first town in their travels.

Before they even entered the town there were signs of a commotion. Smoke could be seen rising all over the town and screams could be heard from where they were. After noticing this, Johnny signalled the horses to move faster and raced towards the town at full speed.

Upon finally arriving, everyone appeared to be already dead, There were two karma beast resembling black rhinos rampaging through the town while the body of a third with an axe lodged in its head could also be seen laying on the ground.

After further inspection, as opposed to the initial assumption that the karma beasts were just rampaging blindly. Shari realized they were trying to corner and finish off a young boy and immediately leaped to his rescue with Ren following just behind.

She threw one of her blades but it was noticed by both the beasts and dodged. It was all according to plan though because the goal was just to distract them to save the boy, which was working perfectly as Ren slipped under their radar with lightning speed and saved him.

Seeing their prey snatched from them, both beast got angry and started charging Ren trying to impale him with their large horns.

One got intercepted by Shari who blocked with her other blade, but the other slipped by and kept going for Ren.

Noticing the situation he was in, Ren put the passed out boy behind him and stood up waiting to be charged. When the beast was in range, with a single strike from Shari's other blade which he retrieved when he made the rescue, he sliced the beast's horn off. Before the beast could react, Ren was already in the air hovering right over its head and delivered the finishing blow, slicing it clean off in a split second.

A window popped up notifying that he had gained a new skill soon after, which he completely ignored because he was concerned about how Shari was doing.

His concerns were unnecessary though because Shari was handling the Beast just fine and soon finished it off with much ease.

After seeing that each other was all right they went to check on the boy, who appeared to be around 16 or 17 years old. He was completely covered in scars and blood which served as a sign to Ren that he was fighting back.

Not long after, he woke up surprised to still be alive.

" Hey kid you alright? what happened here?"

"Did you and that lady save me? I can't thank you enough for Saving my life. Those three bastard beasts attacked us since daybreak and have been killing everyone ever since. They came out of nowhere and started attacking... we were so unprepared... if only I was stronger maybe I could've killed all the Beasts before they killed them. My mom, my sisters, everyone in the town... maybe I could've saved them all if only I was stronger."

"Were you the one who killed one of them?"

"Yes, I was out chopping wood. After hearing all the commotion I rushed back home as quickly as I could only to see everyone I've ever known being devoured alive. when everyone was all dead all three of them attacked me, with only the axe to defend myself I only managed to kill one of them."

~For this kid to fend off the 3 of them at once by himself, kill one and still manage to live to tell about it is no small feat~

" Beast like these will start appearing all over the world soon, I happen to have a score I'd like to settle with them too. Since our goals are aligned, Join me and let's rid the world of these beasts together."
