Chapter 2: The Revelation
Lyra's eyes widened as she stared at Kael, her mind racing with questions. "What do you mean, I'm a Dream Walker?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Kael's smile grew, and he took a step closer to Lyra. "You have the ability to enter the dreamworld at will," he explained. "You can manipulate the dreamscape, creating worlds and creatures with your imagination. And you can walk between dreams, entering the subconscious minds of others."
Lyra's thoughts swirled as she tried to comprehend Kael's words. She had always known that her dreams were vivid and realistic, but she had never imagined that she had the power to control them.
"Why didn't I know about this?" Lyra asked, feeling a sense of wonder and trepidation.
Kael's expression turned serious. "You were born with this gift, Lyra. But it was suppressed, hidden from you until the time was right."
Lyra's eyes narrowed. "Who suppressed it? And why?"
Kael hesitated, as if unsure of how much to reveal. "Your parents, Lyra. They were trying to protect you. They knew that your gift would make you a target for those who seek to exploit it."
Lyra's mind reeled as she thought about her parents, and the secrets they had kept from her. She felt a mix of emotions: anger, sadness, and a sense of betrayal.
"Why are you telling me this now?" Lyra asked, her voice firm.
Kael's eyes locked onto hers. "Because you're ready, Lyra. You're ready to learn the truth about yourself, and to master your gift. And I'm here to guide you."
Lyra felt a surge of excitement and fear as she considered Kael's words. She knew that her life was about to change in ways she couldn't imagine.
"What do I need to do?" Lyra asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Kael smiled. "You need to trust me, Lyra. And you need to be willing to face your fears."
Lyra took a deep breath, and nodded. She was ready to embark on this journey, no matter where it would lead.
