Duel Part II

The cries of the students filled the whole test grounds with cheers. Kris wore a smirk as he stare at the huge crowd of students before him.

“It’s time. The duel begins.”

“Where is Nyx? He is supposed to be here right?”

“Maybe he is taking his time preparing for this duel.”

“Look at Kris’ group they are there to support him huh?”

“Look at those arrogant faces.”

The students whispered to one another.

The crowd is waiting for Nyx to arrive and get the duel started.

“He is here! Nyx has arrived!” as student cried as soon as he saw Nyx walking towards the test grounds.

That single cry caught the attention of the other students then they immediately turn their heads to Nyx and the others walking behind him.

“Isn’t that Caisein and the new student?”

“He already made contact with the new student?”

“If you are strong, you can get scouted easily right?”

“But there are rumors that what happened a few days ago was a fluke, and a lot of students are believing that it’s the truth.”

“Caisein huh? The famous troublemaker and the new student under his wing.”

The students softly whispered to one another as they watch them walking towards the testing grounds.

“Wow, there are so many students here. Did the whole academy wanted to watch something like these?” Raven gasp in awe.

Nyx and Caisein felt the unpleasant gazes of other students towards Raven who is unaware of the glances at him because of the overwhelming presence of so many students.

[Look at them gazing at my lord with evil desires, I cannot make a scene in his name since he will be sure to be disappointed in me, it’s frustrating.] Nyx thought as he bit his lips in anger.

[I can already tell what this guy is thinking, I can sense it too. I feel frustrated to be unable to do anything as well. I am sure this guy is feeling even more frustrated since Raven, the bearer of the seal of the future does not do anything for his own gain.]

Caisein thought as he walk fast and pat Nyx shoulders.

“Huh?” Nyx mutter in surprise as he look behind him and saw Caisein shaking his head with the outline of his mask expands resembling a smile.

[This guy can tell what I was thinking? Well, thinking back on how much time we spent together awhile back when we trained in the past, him guessing what is going on in my mind is already given.] he thought as he look at Caisein with a smile.

[I can’t see his eyes since he wears a blindfold, but I can tell that he understand what I wanted to say to him.] Caisen thought as he pat his back again as he look at the awe struck Raven.

“Were the students always this many?” Raven thought as he look around them with awe.

“Yes, we haven’t even entered the test grounds yet there are still a lot of students outside.” Caisein answered in a muffled voice.

As they walk near the entrance they saw Kai and Cassiopeia along with Nash and Fritz.

“There they are.” Kai said as he saw Nyx, Raven and Caisein approaching the entrance as he use his hands like a telescope.

[When is this guy going to grow up? Using your own hand as a telescope are you a kid? Nobody does that in this age, only idiots do that.] Nash thought with a straight face. [I don’t want to be near that guy, his disease might infect me.]

Nash told himself as he moved away a little bit then he bumped into Fritz and saw that he is doing the same thing Kai is doing.

“Please mind your surroundings your highness, I might have pierced my eyeballs there you know.” He said as he squint his eyes for better view.

The nerves on Nash’s cold and expressionless face started bulging like roots in his forehead. [F**k me, I thought I had to worry about one person. I never would have thought that I was surrounded by idiots.] he thought as he covers his pained face.

“It’s a shock. I never knew Nash attends this kind of things.” Nyx said with a cold tone.

Nash quickly recovered his composure after Nyx expresses his shock.

“Don’t get me wrong, I was never going to something like this if it weren’t for these monkeys pestering me to watch some family successors kicking each other’s ass off of one another.” He said in a cold harsh voice.

“Oh come on Nash, don’t be like that. It’s not every day we see a holy sword holder dueling one another right?” Fritz said in a carefree tone as he hang his arms on Nash’s shoulders.

[This i***t-]

“You never change huh Fritz? Always so carefree yet so alert.” Nyx said in a cold tone. “That’s my line, you never change yourself. Still the keenest of the eyes. Is that the why you blindfolded yourself to give everyone a handicap?” Fritz said as he raise his eye brows non-stop with a smile.

[Annoying as ever.] Nyx thought as he shakes his head. “Then we’ll be on our way. See you later.” He said as he continues to walk inside the test grounds.

“I can’t wait to see your fight Nyx! Give that guy a good pounding for me!” Kai said in a cheerful voice as he waves his hands.

“Yeah, yeah, yeah. I can hear you, no need to shout.” Nyx replied in an annoyed tone.

“Older brother stop doing that, you are making yourself stand out.” Cassiopeia whispered as she pulls his older brother’s clothes.

“Are you here to watch the duel as well Cassiopeia?”

Raven asked as he noticed Cassiopeia after taking a look at the students who decided to watch the duel.

[There are so many strong mana auras around here. Kai and the cold expressionless face guy here are definitely strong as well as Nyx and Caisein but the student beside Kai is also decent.] he thought as he felt their throbbing presence in the atmosphere.

“No- I just tagged along with older brother since he and his friends are going to watch the duel.” She explained with her flustered face.

“Well, Kai can be a pain sometimes, especially when he really wants to do something. It will take a lot of things to stop him from doing something you might not want to experience.” Caisein said as he strokes his face under his mask.

“Don’t say that, I didn’t do anything bad to you right?” Kai said as he averted his eyes from meeting Caisein’s.

[That is not very convincing you know.] Caisein thought. [I knew he would deny doing such things.]

“There was a time when he taught me how to skip class and go fool around the city. You can say that I got my attitude from my master, Kai that is.” Caisein said as the outline of his lips under his mask expanded.

[This guy, don’t go double crossing me you traitor.] he thought as he stare at Caisein with malicious eyes.

[Don’t go denying what you really do, you traitor.] Caisein replied with the same gesture that Kai is doing.

[So you think you can fight me now, punk?] Kai continues to stare at Caisein as he raises his brows. [Of course. I grew big enough balls to take you on, sensei.] Caisein stared back squinting his eyes to express maximum domination.

“They are really going at it huh?” Fritz mumbled as he stare at both of them.

[Ugh! When two wasn’t enough another i***t joined in to make everything even more badly as it already is.] Nash thought as he buried his face with his hands.

“Are you guys not coming? Nyx’s head popped out of the door.

[I wonder why there’s no footsteps following me. turns out that they were talking to Nash and the others.] he thought as he wait for them to follow him.

“Then we’ll go first.” Raven said as he waved good bye.

“He is here, Nyx is here.” One of Kris’ friends said.

“Finally. I was starting to get bored.” He said as he stood up with an arrogant smile.

Kris walks towards the middle of the test ground as Nyx does the same thing.

“You really kept me waiting, Nyx Arcan.” He said with a smirk.

“You said prepare right? I was preparing myself.” [Thought I didn’t really prepare anything for this thought.] he thought as he answered him.

“What do you think is the outcome of this duel?”

“Well it’s hard to say. Both of them are good fighters in their own way.”

“Right? Both of them are strong, but if one of them use an unknown variable then that might change the course of the duel.

The students asked each other before the duel even begun. Raven heard them and tries to ask Caisein beside him.

“Who do you think will win?” he asked in a concerned voice.

“To be honest, I can’t really tell exactly who will win.” Caisein said as he strokes his chin.

“Are both of you ready?” the instructor asked.

“Ye-“

“Fire bomb.”

*BOOOOOOM!*
