Duel Part VI

“It heard your wish Nyx, the holy sword Ascalon.” Raven said with a smile.

Nash and Kai stood in utter shock when they saw a sword flying straight towards Nyx.

The runes one Raven’s arms appeared then slammed both of his hands on the ground to destroy the screen that the students are watching in.

*TUD!*

*KSHHK!* *KSHHK!* *KSHHK!* *KSHHK!* *KSHHK!* *KSHHK!*

All of the screens outside the test grounds cracked and broke into pieces.

Kai and Nash stood frozen with their eyes fixed on the broken piece of screen on the ground.

*BUDUMP!* *BUDUMP!* *BUDUMP!* *BUDUMP!* *BUDUMP!* *BUDUMP!* *BUDUMP!* *BUDUMP!* *BUDUMP!* *BUDUMP!* *BUDUMP!* *BUDUMP!*

Both of their hearts beat faster and wildly in their chest.

[What the hell was that? I am pretty sure that wasn’t a normal sword flying around inside the test grounds right?] Kai thought with sweat breaking from his forehead.

Kai turned his head towards Nash to see what kind of reaction he had, the moment he turns his head he jumped back a few paces after seeing Nash’s reaction.

[That startled me, I have never seen him so afraid before. I mean, he always wear that cold expression. It is pretty rare to see him wear any different expression even when we always hang out with each other.] Kai thought as he recovered from the surprise and wiped his sweat off.

“Hey Kai, I wasn’t seeing things right?” Nash mumbled in shock.

“I don’t know what to tell you dude, I don’t think hallucination works in a group right? Even if it was a spell, students of our caliber can easily tell if it was. But thinking about what we really saw, I guess we saw something that even our elders wouldn’t even think of seeing. I mean, I only saw that sword I some textbooks. Never in my wildest dreams had I thought of seeing it in real life. Sigh.” Kai said while touching his cheeks as he sigh.

“Exactly what I was thinking as well.” Nash agreed while keeping his current expression.

[I never thought I would see the holy sword Ascalon in my lifetime, but where was it sitting the whole time? It can’t be sitting inside the test grounds right? That would be impossible! The other Arcan descendants were tasked to find the holy sword in the whole kingdom. But to think that Nyx will be the one to find it. The other main families will not stay silent about this. They can no longer look down on the Arcan family for not having the family’s holy sword. Its return will grant the family a huge power spike.]

Nash thought as sweat keeps breaking down his forehead and his heart beating faster in his chest.

“What happened?”

“What happened to the screens?”

“What happened is not important, what’s important is Nyx’s conditions. Was he able to survive Kris’ rampage?”

The concerns of the students echoed outside the test grounds.

[What the hell happened? The screens are complex rune formations that Elder Yasrat, who in the hell was able to destroy a complex rune formation that took Elder Yasrat a few years to make.] an instructor thought as his eyes widened staring at the broken screens scattered on the ground.

[I couldn’t find Raven anywhere, don’t tell me that he didn’t get out of the test grounds?] Cassiopeia thought as she hopelessly look around hoping to find Raven in the crowd.

Everyone was anxious to know what happened when the screens broke down. The instructors did everything they can to prevent the students from entering the testing ground to quench their curiosity.

“Keep the students away from the entrances at all costs! Do not let them inside!” an instructor yelled to his fellow instructors.

“I can’t stand to wait for the results, get out of my way!” Thomas yelled as he makes his way through the crowd.

“You sure about that Tom?” one of his friends said with a concerned face.

Kate and the others were looking at him with pitiful eyes.

[These p*****s, afraid of the instructors?] he thought as he proudly smiles every time he passes by every student on the way.

His expression changed when an instructor appeared in front of him, it was their homeroom instructor with his arms crossed.

“Where do you think you are going with that accomplished smile of yours?” Edward asked with a stern expression.

[F*ck! Of all the instructors it just had to be the most troublesome one! I can’t tell what’s in his mind at all.] he grits his teeth in disappointment.

“I’m just going to the first row hoping to catch a glimpse of what is happening inside, hehe.” Thomas said with an awkward smile.

“Is that so?” [That’s not really convincing boy.] he said with an uninterested tone. “Go back before anything bad happens to you.”

“Yes sir.” He said as he nodded his head. [Let’s leave, I’m afraid that he may chew me out if I stayed any longer.] he told himself as he turns his back and walks back to his friends.

“Here he comes, I guess he met someone formidable that made him change his mind.” One his friends said with a chuckle.

“Stop it. Here he comes.” Another one warned him as he pointed his hand to Thomas.

Thomas arrived with a great frown in his face that he intentionally dump on every student he passes by.

*BUMP!*

“Hey! Watch where you are going you idiot.” A demi-human complained.

Thomas stopped and turned his head towards the complainant with angry eyes.

[I’m pretty pissed right now but I didn’t notice that he is a demi-human. I must not show him that I am afraid.] Thomas told himself as he acts arrogant towards the demi-human hoping that the other party got scared of him.

“What did you say?!” he said with an arrogant tone.

The demi-human’s cheerful expression turned dark when he heard what Thomas said. Thomas was hoping that he would scare off the demi-human but to his disappointment the demi-human did not back of a single step and walk towards him with a pissed expression instead.

“I said ‘Watch where you are going you i***t?!’ what are you going to do about it now that I repeated what I said?” the demi-human glared at him intensely.

[F*ck! My plan backfired, I never thought he would get pissed.] Thomas told himself as he started to sweat.

The demi-human stood in front of him while he holds his legs trying to keep it from shaking or start running away without his consent. The atmosphere was turning very unpleasant when one of their friends interrupted their awful stare off.

“I am very sorry for my friend, he is a little bit off lately because of some things please understand.” Thomas and the demi-human said in unison as they bowed.

The strange moment of silence remained a few seconds before both parties realized that they both said the same thing at the same time.

“Wait, did we just said the same thing?” Thomas’s friend asked with a humble tone. “I was pretty surprised as well. Please understand my friend.” The other party said as he pushed his friend back with his arms.

“I apologize for my friend as well. He’s been on the edge lately. Hehe.” He said with a smile.

Both of them continued to apologize to each other when they felt a strong and heavy shock that came inside the test grounds.

*BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!*
