Utter Disappointment

[That bastard wanted to show off on his first day that badly huh?]

Thomas gave Raven a glare after telling the instructor that he would join the tests.

“Is that guy serious? From what I can remember, he did not even had the chance to study.”

“Are you saying he is illiterate?! Then how can the instructor allow someone who is not even knowledgeable in both tests?”

“Then let’s just make things hard for him then.”

Thomas and his friends whispered to one another with their plans against Raven.

“This is payback for what happened earlier you bastard.” He said with a smirk on his face.

[I don’t have a good feeling about this, Thomas and his gang is definitely planning on doing something bad against Raven. I can tell that by a single glance, those evil faces is something that I cannot forget every time I see it while Raven on the other hand seems to be excited about something. I don’t really know what he is smiling on about but it seems like he is also planning something.]

Cassiopeia thought as she glance at Raven and Thomas with a concerned face.

[I hope nothing bad happens later.] she prayed with her eyes closed.

[This is a perfect timing, I get to see the growth of other people as well. especially the demi-humans since Aranx told me that demi-humans are far superior than humans but due to their small numbers the humans can still stand up to them. I wonder where the other strong mana auras came from, I can sense them all around the academy.

I was also told that there are other holy sword holders as well besides me. I wonder how strong the other holy sword holders are.]

He thought as he move his eyes around tracing the movements of the strong mana aura that he senses. Then he suddenly remember what Aranx taught him about the holy sword holders.

(As I[we] have already explained [told you.]. There are [six hold swords] given to the six main tribes that lead the war against the [pesky demon lord] demon lord, two of which is in our hands after sealing a part of the demon lord. These holy swords were wielded by excellent swordsman from the tribes of the demi-humans, the holy sword Ascalon and Frostmourne.

The holy sword Ascalon is forge by the blacksmith of the Almighty for the sole purpose of destroying the demons and it is also known as the Dragon Slayer sword. Whilst the holy sword Frostmourne was forged to seal the souls of the damned in eternal frost.] Aranx explained.

“But why is it called Frostmourne?” Raven asked while listening attentively.

[The holy sword Frostmourne received its name from its immense cold properties hence the Almighty placed the sword in the northern lands awaiting for its rightful user. It was only discovered after a hundred years when a tribe of demi-humans decided to live in the northern lands but due to the immense mana properties of the holy sword it affected the land and turned it into the frigid lands of the northern hemisphere. The sword was found at the very center of the frigid lands and by the time it found its rightful user the terrifying frigid lands slowly became a land that is habitable.

Next is the holy sword Excalibur that is forged by the same blacksmith of the Almighty as the only sword that only humans can wield, demons nor demi-humans cannot wield the holy sword. It inflict wounds that can never heal and can bring light in the darkness.

The holy sword Durandal, a great sword with a single swing can send earthquakes on the land, it possesses the holder and be one of the blade erasing is heaviness. It is also known to mortals as Berserker’s great sword.

The hold sword Gram, forged by the blacksmith of the heavens with heaven steel. This holy sword has the ability to purify everything it touches, thus only the purest of mortals can wield the holy sword.

And lastly the holy sword Kusanagi, this holy sword can severe everything that touches its blade.

And Fragarach is the holy sword that is under my care. [We already told you how the Fragarach works.]

[I can’t wait to meet the other holy sword holders. I ought to meet them in the future since this is the only place that those people with gather. I can’t wait to see them in the future.]

Raven thought with a smile on his face. Cassiopeia felt a little uncomfortable since Raven have been smiling for quite a while without any reason.

The other students saw Raven flash a few smirk on himself as well.

[I can’t tell if he is excited for the test or he’s had just gone crazy.] Kate thought while giving Raven a nasty look.

“Now that everything is settled, let’s all go to the testing grounds! But please be aware of your actions since all of the classes in the academy are going to be there as well. So I oblige everyone to BEHAVE.”

In the last second, the instructor’s voice turned cold giving the students quite the shock.

His voice sent chills to their spines that even Raven felt the dominance behind his voice.

[I guess his strong mana aura is not for show huh? He can properly control and release his mana aura to intimidate the students.] he thought as he smiled.

“Does everybody understand?” he said in a soft tone.

“Yes Sir!”

The class answered.

[Then his voice turned back to normal.] Raven told himself.

[This instructor is dangerous, he sent chills to my spine with just the tone of his voice. Everyone in the room is intimidated, let’s see how that bastard is doing.] Thomas thought as he took a quick glance at Raven.

[How the f**k is that guy unfazed?! It’s just like what happened earlier. What the hell happened to that f****r in the past three years.] Thomas thought in anger as he saw Raven’s unfazed expression.

[I admit that he has strength in his intimidation but it can’t compare to Aranx’s, I felt like an ant in front of a mountain. This intimidation can’t even compare to what I have faced in my training.] Raven thought as he started to break a sweat. [Hooo! Just by thinking about it makes me scared. Hooo!]

After a few instructions from their instructor they proceeded to the testing ground along with the other classes.

[Wow, look at the building.] he gasp in awe after seeing such a huge building.

“Cassiopeia, is this the testing grounds?” he asked her beside him.

“Yes, we held everything here.” She answered in a soft tone.

“This doesn’t look like a testing ground, it’s more like a testing villa for me.” He said.

[I can feel them, they are here. Strong mana auras.] he told himself as he look around the other classes.

“Isn’t he from the entrance gate this morning?”

“Yup it is him. That purple hair is standing out like a sore thumb.”

“It looks like he has some connection to the royal elven family.”

“Woah! I did not expect for elves to associate with a human and a commoner at that.”

Some of the students whispered to each other as they recognize Raven.

[Raven huh? That commoner dares to walk alongside my beautiful Cassiopeia!?] a guy with the piercing in his lips thought as he cursed at Raven silently. [I’m going to teach you a lesson for not knowing your place.] he said to himself as he smiled.

“First we need to measure the improvement of your mana abilities. Everyone I am going to use the artifact to make a virtual opponent so please don’t hold back.”

The instructor announced as he activated the artifact, the runes inscribed on the artifact immediately glow after the instructor poured his mana into it. The stones around the area etched with runes also glowed.

[So he also activated the area which will let the illusion to move freely inside it. It’s a basic rune formation but it’s very resourceful of them to use it as a test instrument. Aranx told me about this things as well. Thought he did not really taught me everything about it since he consider these things unnecessary. But it’s good to know that mortal innovations are steadily growing at such a good rate.]

Raven thought as he stare at one of the mortal innovations.

“Now that the rune formation is activated, we are going to start the tests. The elders are here to witness the growth of each and every one of you students, so please behave and take this seriously.”

The instructor said with a stoic expression.

“What do you think will be the results Elder Rigor?”

Elder Yasrat asked as he sat on the chair beside Elder Rigor

“That is still unknown, let’s just wait for the results before we make a conclusion.” Elder Rigor replied.

Elder Yasrat nodded in agreement, Elder Nuu just gave Elder Yasrat a cold stare without him knowing.

[As if you really care if the students improve or not you sly fox.] “I am looking forward to the student that Elder Rigor mentioned.” Elder Nuu said while he had his eyes scouting for Raven.

“I-s that him?” he said while pointing at Raven. “It’s just as you said Elder Rigor, he really stood out from the rest of the crowd.” He agreed.

[I can feel the strong mana aura gathering in this place.] Raven told himself as he scratch his head.

“Now let’s start with third year class c. Please go inside the circle in an alphabetic manner one after another.” The instructor ordered.

Raven smiled as he the instructor gave the signal to start the tests.

[I can’t wait to see other students like me perform their best.]

He said with a huge smile on his face.

“Look at the new student. His smiles give me the creeps.” A student said with the look of disgust in her face.

“Yeah, and he’s been smiling like that for quite a while now.” Another one said while covering her mouth.

Cassiopeia manage to hear what they are whispering about.

[I can’t really blame them, even I feel uncomfortable whenever Raven smiles like that.] she thought as she moved a little bit away from Raven.

The students walk towards the circle to have their mana manipulation tested. A few noticeable amount of time have past and the smile and excitement on Raven’s face disappeared. It was replaced by a dreaded angry expression that also surprised the students that were talking about him earlier.

“Look at his face now, he looks like he saw something disappointing.” The female student said with sweat started to break from her forehead.

[What kind of joke is this?! I was really looking forward to see the capabilities of the students from my class and as far as I can see, most humans doesn’t even grasp the proper manipulation of mana. What a disgrace! What the hell did they even learn at the academy?!]

He thought as he bit his lip in utter disappointment.

The students around Raven can feel the animosity around him that made them take a few steps away from him.

“First he is smiling constantly now he is angry all of the sudden? What is the deal with this guy?” Kate whispered to herself as her friends poke her sides whenever they noticed something odd happens to Raven.

“The students doesn’t seem to have improved significantly, what a pity. Almost all of the humans did not even manage to improve while the demi-humans on the other hand improved drastically.” Elder Rigor said with a sad tone.

“It’s a pity indeed.” Elder Yasrat agreed.

“Don’t give a conclusion yet, there are still humans who have not taken the test from class c and I still look forward to that student thought.” Elder Nuu said in an excited tone.

[I look forward to his abilities as well.] Elder Rigor said as he stares intensely at Raven’s back.
