Kai lifted his sister up. Despite Yusumi successfully stopping Xanna's bleeding, the Earth Healer had been in so much agony that it'd knocked her into unconsciousness.
'I'm sorry I couldn't do more,' Yusumi told him, laying a hand on his arm. He flinched as usual, but didn't shrug away.
'She is still alive. She would not be if you had not stepped in.' He walked over to the doors, leaning his back against them, and pushed. Yusumi ran to help, and together they eased them open. On the other side, the bodies of the Afterdead greeted them. It appeared that whatever power Rai'assa Karn had used to animate them had disappeared, leaving plain corpses. 'What shall we do with these?'
