CHAPTER THREE

Evangeline was in the interrogation room of the police station. " Why am I here? " she asked. " We already told you, were investigating Amanda Knights death " the detective sighed. " Did she not die of natural causes " she asked, irritation and impatience etched on her face. " Were still waiting for the report, and you were the last person to see her alive " he said narrowing his eyes at her and she returned the favour by giving him a cold glare. They sat in silence for hours until the presence of the detective was requested. Evangeline sat in silence alone for thirty minutes while waiting for the detective to return. The door to the investigation room opened and a woman strode in. " Your free to go " she said uncuffing her. Evangeline scoffed and walked out the room. " Let me guess, she died of natural causes " she chuckled as the woman suspiciously glared at her, observing her. Evangeline grabbed her items and left the police station. As Evangeline entered the house she started crying, mumbling something inaudible. Amelia ran over to hug her, rubbing her back, trying to soothe her. " I can't.. they think I.. I don't even know her " she sobbed, sharing her pain about that girls death. " It's okay, we know " Amelia said. " How? " she asked. " The headmaster, he said she died of a heart attack but stupid humans, they wanted to investigate, they've caused you so much pain " Amelia said. Evangeline continued to sob but on the inside she was laughing. The day ended pretty fast and everyone went to bed. Evangeline woke up the next morning, took a shower, and got dressed and went down to the kitchen where she found her friend, Amelia in a rush. " What's going on? " she asked. " School, I overslept " she said, her hair was mess and she was missing a shoe and was not wearing a shirt, her breakfast was burnt and her school bag was toppled over with her books all the floor. Evangeline snapped her fingers and Amelia was fully clothed, her backpack in hand and pancakes in the other. " Woah " " A special ability of mine " Amelia stared at her watch and quickly ate her pancakes and ran out the door. She was now alone, most of the girls were in school, others off to wherever it is they go and the others in the game room or doing their homework. Evangeline wandered around the mansion until she found a ginormous door that enticed her. She used all her strength to push it open but it would not budge. Her eyes glowed black and black veins protruded out of her skin - slightly. The door slowly creaked open. She walked inside and the door immediately shut itself. The room was pitch black, even supernaturals with the keenest of sight could not navigate their way around here. She tried to use her magic but failed. She sighed and cautiously walked around the room, the more she walked the more she felt the wind on her face. She got closer and wind became stronger. There was a faint light ahead and she desperately ran towards it and immediately regretted it after. She ran towards the light and found herself in a beautiful modern, contemporary living room. The was a gigantic window that reached the ceiling and stretched across the whole room. She looked out of it and saw she was atleast a hundred feet in the in the city. She concluded she was in a penthouse suite in a hotel and she immediately thanked the magazine gods. By the fireplace sat a man, a beautiful man with jet black hair and crimson eyes. His sharp jawline made him look cold and mysterious, his skin so pale that he looked sickly but did nothing to dim his good looks. " What is it that you want? " she asked irritation flashed through her face. He glared at her as she sat down on the arm of the chair beside him. She gently stroked his hair as he looked at the wine in his glass intently. " I saved you from the mercy of the Gods and this is the thanks I get " he said, not lifting his head to look at her as she continued to pet him. " I need more time, it's only been two days " she sighed. He lifted his head, looking at her with cold eyes. " I held up my end of the deal, what about you? " he raised his eyebrows. " You can't expect to me e*****e the whole world and have an army ready to overthrow the Gods in less than two days. Persephone was right, you are demanding " she yelled, harshly pushing his head away. " No, but I expect progress " " In two days? " she raised her eyebrows. His gaze returned to the wine before he gulped it all down. He abruptly stood up, which caught her by surprise and she fell off the chair. With her back on the ground, she sat up and groaned. He bent down to her level and forced her to look at him. " I like this position, it's a perfect reminder of where you are exactly, at the bottom with me looking down at you. " he said tilting her head. " Are you sure your looking at me, cause at this angle, were at the same level, literally and metaphorically " she said smirking. His brow furrowed and his cocky smirk turned to a frown. " You are at my mercy, Evangeline, Demi God or not, Queen or not, at this moment until I get what I'm owed, you are mine. " he said letting her go. He stood up, dusting himself off and she did the same. " It won't take long, you'll get what it is you want, just give me more time. And don't summon me like this again " she said walking away. " You have a deadline, I expect my kingdom before the fall of the third moon. " he said as she neared the door, she stopped and turned, she smiled and nodded her head and opened the door.
