Chapter Two

Chapter Two Zoey's POV I climbed in my car and headed for our training area. There was a big field for sparring. We also head a gym building with a weight room, pool, and other facilities. There was a few tracks. I usually used them to practice my speed. I changed and headed to the track to stretch. I wasn't really looking forward to this party or my birthday. Maybe I could find someone to bring with me to make it bearable. After I finished my stretching, I got out my timer and started doing running drills. I made goals each time I came, which was almost every day. I had to be better than before. I can always be better than before. I'd been running for the last hour, 30 minutes in my human form and 30 in my wolf. I growled in anger as my finishing time hadn't hit my goal. I was still 4 minutes over. "Zoey?" A voice called and I saw Kyle standing nearby. We both knew I couldn't talk to him in this form, so I trotted into one of the changing station. After I was back in my human form and dressed, I walked over to the redhead. "What's up?" I asked him. "Are you okay? I've been watching you for a little bit, and something seems wrong." He asked. "Just not going fast enough." I said quickly, picking up my water bottle. "Zoe, you're literally the fastest runner in the pack, you don't need to get faster." Kyle said, with a slight smile. "I'll always need to be faster. If I was faster maybe my mom-" I stopped myself and swallowed harshly. "I need to be faster. I need to be better. I have to be able to protect everyone." "Zoey, you can't be so hard on yourself. You're one of the best fighters in the pack. You are one of the strongest people I know, but you can't protect everyone. That's not how life works." Kyle said but I didn't want to hear it. He doesn't understand. No one does. "I'll never stop training until I can save everyone." I said. He looked like he was going to respond, so I changed the question. "Hey, I have a question." "What's up?" He asked, not commenting on my conversation change. "You're coming to the birthday bash, right? Well if you didn't already have a date, I was wondering if you'd like to come with me?" I asked him. "As a date?" He asked with a goofy smile. I could see it in his eyes he wanted me to say yes. He still had feelings for me. I don't wanna lead him on though. "Not as a date. As a friend." I clarified. His smile slightly dimmed but he didn't drop it. "Of course. Let me know more details and I'll be there." He said. "I gotta head back to training. I'll catch you later." With that, Kyle ran off back to where the pack warriors train. I sighed, time to get back to training. ————————— It's short, but hopefully good? I wanted to add more but I couldn't think of anything good. Let me know what you think? 521 words Remember comment, vote, share, etc.
