Chapter Seven Jasper's POV I wanted to her to hurt. I wanted her to hurt like she hurt me. She wanted to talk to me. Act like my mate, but she didn't want me. She was going to reject me. I heard her with my own ears. Flashback- Zoey was my mate? I could barely believe it. I've always wondered what it would be like to be with my mate. Zoey was my best friend, and now she was my soulmate. I'm over the moon. I was trying to find Cynthia to officially end things with her, but she hadn't arrive yet. Whatever, I'll do it later. I want to spend some time with my mate before class. I knew she'd be somewhere around her locker, seeing as school started soon. I could hear her voice down the hallway, the closer I got. "Maybe I shouldn't even waste my time. I should just cut my losses and reject him." I stopped in my tracks hearing that. What? "Reject him before he has time to reject me." It felt like my chest was caving in. "Are you sure? Don't you wanna talk it out with him first?" I heard Karen ask. "Why? I don't need him. I'll reject him today. Next time I see him." Zoey said. I felt my stomach rolling. I think I'm gonna be sick. It hadn't been an hour. What changed? Was she faking it outside? Was she just doing this to torture me? I wouldn't let her reject me, not before knowing that pain she caused me. "Jasper!" A shrill voice called out. I resisted rolling my eyes in annoyance. Ever since I started the mating process with Zoey, I found Cynthia very unattractive. Her touch made me feel sick and her kisses actually hurt. Not as much as they hurt Zoe though. "Jasper! Come on, we're gonna be late." I reluctantly followed her out of the house. We headed to the community area where the party was being held. It was more of a ball than a party, at least the first part was going to be. Eventually the high-school aged kids would separate from the watchful adults and have our own secret party. I didn't doubt this party would be any different. I glanced at Cynthia through the corner of my eye as I drove. I can't keep doing this. I have to end it, tonight. When we arrived, the building was already starting to fill, members of the pack of all ages. I sighed, climbing out of the car. I opened Cynthia's door and she clutched to my arm, like a pair of handcuffs. I tried to shake the feeling of disgust off of me as we headed inside. People stared at us muttering. Everyone has heard about Zoey and I by now, including my very disappointed parents. My mom was so disgusted sometimes that she couldn't even look at me. My wolf hasn't talked to me in the last week. Not since I kissed Cynthia. "I always knew he'd hurt you." I heard a voice say. I looked over to see Kyle and Zoey standing off in the corner, drinks in hand. "I always knew it. You might've been my girlfriend but I saw the way you looked at him. You looked at him like he was your whole world and I knew he'd destroy it. If we were mates, you'd never have to go through this pain." "Kyle, if we were mates we'd be cursed. This curse has taken my dream of being a mother and wife away from me. I'm glad it didn't do the same for you." Zoey said and looked down at her drink in sorrow. I saw a shimmer of a tear roll down her eye.  I wanted to go over and wipe it from her face. Zoey was beautiful, even when she cried. Even more so when she smiled. I wanted her to smile. I wanted to make her smile. "Jasper." Cynthia called, I ignored her still watching Zoey. Zoey's shoulder's stiffened at hearing my name. Her head slowly turned and she locked eyes with me. I watched her eyes trail down before stopping at her hand. The hand holding Cynthia's. Zoey's eyes quickly darted away. She gripped her cup so tightly, the glass broke in her hand, causing cuts and blood to leak out. Pain shot up my arm, as if I had the same wounds. "Jesus Zoey!" A loud yell brought everyone's attention to the scene. The Alpha quickly walked over to his daughter and pulled her out of sight. Everyone went about their business, including Cynthia who went and found some of her friends. I moved closer to the punch bowl. I could now hear Zoey and her father talking. "Don't pretend like you care now because we're in front of all these people. You've treated me like s**t since mom died. I'm not your kid, just some kid who you've been stuck raising." I heard Zoey spit out. I've seen first hand how dismissive her father was to her. I grew up around it. He treated Zack and Zeke like idols but Zoey was just a trash in his house. The Alpha didn't responded, just sighed and walked away. I was going to comfort her, when Kyle walked and disappeared around the corner. "Hey, Zoe-Zoe. Don't cry, okay." I heard him say and she chuckled but it sounded teary. "Didn't I tell you not to call me that?" She asked. "Maybe, but when have I ever listened to you?" Kyle said. I moved against a nearby wall to see them. I've never liked Kyle. I don't like that he's alone with her in the corner. He was wiping tears of her face. "Why are you being so nice to me? I know we stayed friends after we broke up, but this is different." Zoey said, looking up at him. "You could use the friends." Kyle said, "Plus if I can't be your mate, at least I can be your friend." "Well, you're being a better mate than the ones I actually have." She said and looked down at her feet. I felt a tang of guilt. I'm a piece of s**t. I'm a complete and utter piece of s**t. "I don't even know what I did to make them hate me so much." "Well, I don't hate you." Kyle said, stepping closer to her. "Kyle, what are you-" He cut her off. "I'm doing what we should've done long ago. f**k those guys. They can't appreciate you for the beautiful woman you are." Kyle said, before Zoey could open her mouth to respond, he kissed her. I felt my lips burning, and I stormed away. Two can play that game. Where's Cynthia? ——————————— Jasper is a complete asshole and I kinda hate him. He's also an i***t. Who agrees? Let me know what you think? 1161 Words Remember Comment, Like, Share, etc.
