Chapter 9: I Hate Being Threatened the Most

791 Words
There were three uninvited guests in total, and one of them, a woman, had hidden herself behind Rong Jiu and her group. When everyone was off guard, she targeted the weakest among them—Rong Jiu. Ye Tianlin’s movements halted, and Rong Jiu saw one of the men take advantage of the situation to launch a fierce sneak attack on him. However, Ye Tianlin dodged it and countered with a beautiful strike! Rong Jiu couldn’t help but exclaim, “Beautiful.” “Shut up! Did I give you permission to speak?” The woman pressed the knife viciously against Rong Jiu’s neck, cutting a wound that caused blood to seep out and trickle down Rong Jiu’s throat. Rong Jiu raised her hand to touch the wound, her fingers coming away covered in blood. “If you move again, I’ll cripple you!” The dagger pressed even closer. Rong Jiu remained still. Blood flowed down her neck, seeping into her collar, creating a picture as captivating as it was eerie. Rong Jiu brought her finger to her lips, gently l*****g the familiar taste—the same toxic blood that had once driven people mad. The woman shouted at Ye Tianlin, “Ye, you’d better not try anything funny. Hand over the beast core, and I’ll give your woman back to you.” His woman? Rong Jiu responded calmly, “I’m not his woman, so don’t think he’ll exchange the beast core for me.” Rong Jiu remained composed, showing no signs of panic despite being held hostage. Her gaze, from the start, had been cold, as if she were staring at a dead person. “Shut up! If you say another word, I’ll cut out your tongue! Believe me, I have the skill to do it!” The woman’s delicate hand clutched Rong Jiu’s arm with such force it seemed like she intended to crush it. Rong Jiu lowered her gaze slightly, memories of the pain from her shattered legs resurfacing as if it had happened only yesterday. The darkness in her eyes grew deeper. This person deserved to die. “Miss!” Xia Mu called out in concern. Ye Tianlin stopped moving. “Hand over the beast core!” The woman’s voice was sharp, filled with authority and a hint of smugness. Ye Tianlin pulled a box from his coat and tossed it over. The woman’s face lit up with joy as she reached out to catch it. But Rong Jiu was faster. Just when no one expected her to fight back and when Ye Tianlin was already preparing to act, Rong Jiu’s elbow shot backward, striking the woman squarely in the abdomen, making her double over in pain. At the same time, Rong Jiu’s leg kicked up like a gust of wind, smashing into the woman’s face! The woman staggered back in shock. She had been too focused on attacking Rong Jiu to release her qi. Now, as she tried to gather it, Rong Jiu’s swift kick struck her again before she could stabilize herself, slamming her head to the side with blood spilling from her mouth! Rong Jiu stretched out her hand, catching the box and holding it securely. The series of movements was so quick that everyone else barely had time to react before the two women had switched positions. Now, the tables had turned. A look of admiration flashed across Ye Tianlin’s face. Xia Mu and the others stood there, stunned. Liu Ying was horrified—how could this be? How could she break through my defense! Though the moment was brief, Liu Ying had indeed tried to activate her qi shield, but Rong Jiu had shattered it in an instant. The speed left Liu Ying confused, unable to comprehend what had just happened. Everyone else assumed Liu Ying had simply been overconfident and hadn’t used her qi. But only Liu Ying understood the terror she felt inside. This was clearly an ordinary person with no qi, Liu Ying was certain, but her strength was so immense it had broken through her defense. The burning pain in her face felt as if her bones were on fire, contorting her features as she screamed in agony. “It hurts! It hurts so much!” Poison, she used poison! Rong Jiu slowly walked toward Liu Ying, her voice like ice from the depths of hell, carrying a bone-chilling coldness. The aura of frost and murderous intent caused everyone present to shudder in fear. “I… hate… being… threatened… the most.” With a swift motion, Rong Jiu picked up the dagger that Liu Ying had used to threaten her and stabbed it down. Blood spurted out. She hit a vital point. The surrounding area fell into a dead silence.
