Leaning up against a building on the edge of the marketplace, Talon and I enjoyed our fruit as Poe and the knights approached. A lone woman ran erratically into the market, a child in her arms. She dashed around villagers and out the other side of the market. We paused in our chewing. Screams, distant screams. Instead of moving away, our group moved towards the unnerving sounds. On the distant hill, where the path flowed from the horizon, a line of evil shadows rose. A pale, blond leader appeared from between the ranks, causing my companions and me to either gasp or freeze in recognition.
"He's had enough of you both, it seems," Breeard looked sideways at me.
