Chapter 2

"You're not from around here?" The cold wine left my lips, and the tink from my cup hit the wooden bar. "She will have another." "I will?" I turned to look at him. His dark hair hung over his golden eyes. Trying too hard to cover his face. He looks rough. I scanned his face, his sharp nose, his sharp jawline, his small pearl-sharp teeth, and his sharp ears. Bruising just below his left eye. He slips a silver coin towards the bar woman. "Your name?" He says. "I have no name." He laughs. Laughing at me. No matter how prepossessing he is. He dares to laugh. I stood but for a moment Tae's hand rested on my shoulder, I sat back, and looked straight at him in spite. "How does one have no name?" He spoke again. "One as beautiful as you have a unique name, don't you think?" Tae moved forward but I stopped him. Standing between him and our new friend here. Tae's eyes meet mine. Scanning for any sort of permission to attack. I will not give him that satisfaction. Even though it would be fun to watch. "Go wait outside," I whispered. He did not move, he looked at him. I hissed between my teeth, bringing him back to me. My eyes flared, and a light green reflected off his. "Now!" I demanded. "Take the others with you." For a moment he waited. Then they agreed as he turned and grabbed Sethadien by the arm and walked outside with the rest of them. ....Sethadien pov.... "Who is she with?" Tae finally realized my arm and attended to our horses. He strokes Ghost's muzzle and directs her back to the water. "I don't know." He finally spoke. So young. So unknowingly out of it. "You don't know?"" So stupid." "Does she even know?" "Don't you dare question her!" I grabbed the fist he tried to aim at my face with my left hand ask the same time Amelia opened hers, the pain I felt, we all felt, the curse that comes with our bond. He tries to set it free. He's fangs expose themselves, his blue eyes burn to intimidate. "I have centuries on you boy. And you dare try me." "I dare..." "Shut up. The both of you now." Amelia pushes him off me, looking me in the eye as if I'm the one that should know better. She is correct. I should know better. But for years I've been following along like a lost dog. I want to say more. But I cannot. I'm a three hundred-year-old vampire trapped in the body of a nineteen-year-old boy. A young boy. First, I'm grateful for the youth, the strength, this body. But this forever. I looked one last time at the tarvern back at Amelia. Her strawberry hair flames with her power. She understands me, her phenix power also gives her the curse of immortality. She is exquisite, but not as enchanting as my sweet Scarlet. God, how I miss her. I turned and walked straight into the forest. I fiddled to get the chain from around my neck and opened the locket. There she is. My Scarlet. My everything. My distraction. "You need patients." I placed Scarlet back into my shirt. "I'm a vampire Amy. I have all the time in the world. The patient is my friend." She walked towards me to speak again. "I'm hungry" I said. Like a child begging for food. "You want to hunt?" Her peachy lips turned into a small smile. "Let's go." I can also feel her excitement rise in her chest as we moved to find prey. ......Violetta pov..... "So what is your name?" I turned back to find this man still bugging for my name. "Not important. You are?" "Also not important." I chuckled. Great. A smart ass. Just what I need after a long day. "I heard you are looking for someone?" I placed my cup back down and sighed. "People have been talking." He said again. I pushed the chair back and as I did, four men stood in their seats all through the tavern. I raised a hand and I caught a glance at his face. "You're laughing at me again. You need to control yourself. Or I won't." This did not change a thing. He lifted his hand and as he did those four men sat back and went back to talking. "You are the one I'm looking for." I said again, walking closer. "Tell me where the passage is. And I let you and your friends live here." He laughed again. "I do not appreciate your tongue." I grabbed hold of his coat and pulled him up right. And again they all stood. He held his hand out to them and finally had eye contact with me. His hair moved away from his face. I stupidly let a sign of weakness escape me. I'm weak! And I swear weirdly handsome men make me weaker. And he noticed that, as that smirk came back to his face. "I hate that." I said, letting him go. "I know."... " I need to ask again?" "Violetta" I spoke, my human name. "Like our mountain flowers." My eyebrows creased. "And yours?" I said. "Not important." I grunted, coming back closer to him. "But getting you and your friends to that passage is important. Don't you think?" He picked up his cup and drank the last bit, dropping a few coins onto the table and walked towards the door. "Are you coming, Princess Violetta." ...
