We were let right through the gate without hesitation. We were also given directions to reach the pack hospital. The moment we pulled up, I wasted no time in pulling the door open and jumping out. I’m not even sure that the car actually stopped, but I can’t be bothered with that now.
I run into the clinic hospital, and I feel Apollo on my heels. I scan the waiting area, looking for my mate. I see her in the back, huddled against her aunt. I hurry over to her, and the moment our eyes meet, a sob escapes her lips. I hold my arms open, and Akia launches herself against me. I hold her close as if my embrace is enough to push the sadness out of her. Apollo appears across from me, holding on to Akia. I close my eyes and hope that she can feel the love from me.
