Natasha's pov
I saw the look of shock and surprise on each of their faces on hearing the news. I'd be shocked myself if it was me. I couldn't decipher the look on my mom's face, it was like a mix of shock, surprise, excitement and doubt.
"What do you mean by getting married?" my dad was the first to break the silence.
"yeah" Mr Couper added
I looked at Brandon for him to continue and save us from the embarrassing situation.
"well," he continued "I want you all to give us your blessings as we embark on this journey of life and...."
"excuse me" my mom cut him off halfway " I need to talk to my daughter privately" she said standing up from her chair and dragging me along with her to the kitchen.
"out with it, what's going on?" she asked looking concerned.
"I don't understand what you mean mom"
"please don't give me that, please. You're my daughter, I know you very well, you are not the type of person to make decisions hastily." she said and she's right.
My mom has been there for me ever since I was a kid, knowing when I'm happy and when I'm not, when I'm faking it and I'm truly enjoying it. And I love her for understanding me so much without having to stress it.
" is it because of the news?" she asked, bringing me out of my thoughts. "What happened to you? You have to tell me let me know how to help you" she said in her most tenderly motherly voice.
I narrated everything that happened in the past two days to her, not leaving anything behind, including the night with Brandon. After I was done, I noticed we were both crying now and she was hugging me tightly and running her hand along my back and shoulder.
" I'm sorry you had to go through that on your own my dear, I should've been there for you, I should've been......."
"it's okay mom, it wasn't your fault" I cut her off.
"can't believe Brian would do that to you. And Ariana? You've been best friends for as long as I can remember."
" apparently I was the only one that thought so" I said bitterly.
"What are you going to do now dear?"
"I just have to get married to Brandon to get the press off my back for now" I said
" do you think it's a wise decision? And he agreed to it?" she asked with a bit of uncertainty in her voice.
"of course he did" I said rolling my eyes and scoffing. I looked at her and she was giving me that look I know very well, that look that says don't think of lying to me young lady.
"okay fine" I surrendered
"I might have threatened him a bit, but he's also involved so he has no choice, neither do I" I sighed.
"it's okay dear, I'll support you in any decision you take" she smiled and I smiled back at her.
"thank you so much Mom. One more thing, we're not telling dad, he won't support it if we do" I said
" you don't have to worry, I'll take care of him"
"thanks Mom" I hugged her releasing the breath I didn't know I was holding in.
" let's go back inside before they come looking for us"
"alright Mom".

I could feel the tension from the living room as soon as we entered. My dad was giving my mom that look that says is everything alright and mom smiled at him. I was grateful he didn't call me out to start questioning me.
"sorry I had to take her out like that"mom started "it's not everyday your daughter decides to surprise you" everyone laughed except Brandon.
"it's okay dear, hope everything is okay" Brandon's mom added.
"yeah sure".
"so how do we go about the preparations?" she added, still beaming.
"we're taking it one step at a time" my mom added.
"I think we should do it as soon as possible" all eyes turned to Brandon as he surprised everyone.
