Ava charged at Elijah, her fists flying. But to her surprise, Elijah didn't flinch. He caught her wrists in a tight grip, his eyes gleaming with amusement.
"You really think you can take me down, Ava?" Elijah sneered. "I'm the one who's been playing you all along. You're no match for me."
Ava struggled against his grip, but Elijah's hold was like a vice. She was trapped, and she knew it.
Elara intervened, her eyes flashing with anger. "Let her go, Elijah," she growled. "This doesn't have to end in bloodshed."
Elijah chuckled, his grip on Ava's wrists tightening. "Oh, but it does," he said. "You see, Ava has something that belongs to me. And I'll stop at nothing to get it."
Ava's heart was racing. What did Elijah want from her? And what did he mean by "something that belongs to him"?
Suddenly, Elijah's eyes locked onto Ava's, and she felt a jolt of electricity run through her body. She knew that she was in grave danger.
With a swift movement, Elijah pulled Ava towards him, his lips inches from her ear. "You're coming with me, Ava," he whispered. "And there's nothing you can do to stop me."
But Ava was not one to give up easily. With a surge of determination, she brought her knee up, connecting it with Elijah's stomach. Elijah's grip on her wrists loosened, and Ava took advantage of the distraction.
She broke free, her heart pounding in her chest. She knew she had to get away from Elijah, and fast.
Ava took off running, Elara by her side. They sprinted through the forest, the trees blurring together as they ran for their lives.
As they ran, Ava felt a strange energy building up inside her. It was like nothing she had ever felt before.
Suddenly, the energy burst forth, and Ava felt herself surrounded by a brilliant light. When the light faded, Ava saw that they were standing in a clearing, surrounded by a ring of mushrooms.
Elara's eyes were wide with wonder. "Ava, you're more powerful than I thought," she said. "You have the power of teleportation."
Ava's mind was reeling. Teleportation? What did it mean? And what other secrets lay hidden within her?
As Ava struggled to understand her newfound powers, Elijah reappeared, his eyes blazing with fury.
"You may have gotten away this time, Ava," he snarled. "But I'll find you. And when I do, you'll pay for your defiance."
Ava stood tall, her heart pounding in her chest. She knew that she had to be ready for whatever lay ahead. She was no longer the same person who had been held captive by the Devourer's darkness. She was stronger now, and she would fight to protect herself and those she cared about.
