As Lucien dragged Ava away from the chaos, she struggled to break free. But his grip was like a vice, unyielding and merciless. She tried to kick him, but he dodged her blows with ease. "You're quite the fighter, aren't you?" Lucien said, his voice dripping with amusement. "I like that. You'll need that spirit where we're going." Ava's eyes scanned the surroundings, desperate for a way to escape. But they were moving too fast, and the darkness seemed to swallow everything in its path. She stumbled, and Lucien's grip tightened. "Don't try to run," he warned. "You'll only make things worse." Ava's anger and fear were boiling over. She didn't know what Lucien's plan was, but she knew she had to get away. She summoned all her strength and launched herself at Lucien, determined to break free. For a moment, she thought she had him off balance. But then, his eyes flashed with a fierce light, and he pinned her to the ground. "You shouldn't have done that," Lucien growled, his fangs bared. Ava's heart was racing. She thought she was going to be bitten, but just as Lucien's fangs were about to sink into her neck, a loud growl echoed through the night. Lucien's head snapped up, and Ava saw Ryder and Elijah standing over her, their eyes blazing with fury. "Get away from her," Ryder snarled, his voice low and menacing. Lucien's eyes flicked between Ryder and Elijah, and for a moment, Ava thought she saw a glimmer of uncertainty. But then, his mask slipped back into place, and he sneered at them. "You'll never take her from me," Lucien said, his voice dripping with malice. "She's mine now." With a swift movement, Lucien vanished into the night, leaving Ava shaken and confused. Ryder and Elijah helped Ava to her feet, their faces etched with worry. "What happened?" Ryder asked, his eyes scanning the darkness. "What did he want?" Ava shook her head, still trying to process the events. "I don't know," she said. "But I think we're in grave danger." As they made their way back to the village, Ava couldn't shake the feeling that Lucien's true intentions were far more sinister than she could have ever imagined. The darkness seemed to be closing in around them, and Ava knew that their time was running out. They had to uncover the truth about Lucien and his plans before it was too late. But as they approached the village, Ava noticed something strange. The guards were gone, and the village was eerily quiet. "Something's wrong," Ava whispered, her heart racing with fear. Ryder and Elijah exchanged a look, and without a word, they knew that their world was about to change forever. The village was dark and deserted, the only sound the creaking of the trees in the wind. Ava's instincts screamed at her to run, but she stood frozen, her eyes fixed on the village entrance. And then, she saw it. A figure standing in the shadows, watching them. Ava's heart skipped a beat as she realized that their nightmare was far from over. In fact, it was just beginning... The figure stepped forward, its features illuminated by the moonlight. Ava's heart sank as she recognized the cold, calculating gaze of the Devourer's minion. "Welcome back," the minion said, its voice dripping with malice. "I've been waiting for you." Ryder and Elijah positioned themselves between Ava and the minion, their eyes fixed on the creature. "We're not going anywhere with you," Ryder growled. The minion chuckled, the sound sending shivers down Ava's spine. "Oh, I'm not here to take you," it said. "At least, not yet. I have a message from the one who sent me." Ava's curiosity was piqued. "What message?" she asked, trying to keep her voice steady. The minion's gaze locked onto hers, and Ava felt a chill run down her spine. "The master wants to meet with you," the minion said. "He's been waiting for a very long time." Ava's heart was racing. She knew that this was a trap, but she also knew that she couldn't ignore the message. "I'll go," she said, her voice firm. Ryder and Elijah turned to her, their faces etched with concern. "Ava, no," Ryder said. "It's a trap." Ava took a deep breath. "I know it is," she said. "But I have to do this. I have to know what's going on." Elijah nodded, his eyes locked onto hers. "We'll come with you," he said. The minion chuckled again, the sound sending a shiver down Ava's spine. "Oh, no," it said. "The master wants to see Ava alone." Ava steeled herself, her heart pounding in her chest. She knew that this was a risk, but she was willing to take it. "I'll go alone," she said, her voice firm. Ryder and Elijah exchanged a look, and Ava knew that they were trying to come up with a plan. But she also knew that they couldn't protect her from what lay ahead. "I'll be fine," she said, trying to reassure them. The minion gestured towards the darkness, and Ava stepped forward, her heart heavy with foreboding. As she walked into the unknown, Ava knew that her life would never be the same. She was walking into the heart of darkness, and she wasn't sure if she would ever return. The minion led her deeper into the forest, the trees looming above them like sentinels. Ava's senses were on high alert, her heart pounding in her chest. And then, suddenly, they stopped. The minion turned to her, its eyes glowing with an otherworldly light. "Welcome to the master's lair," it said, its voice dripping with malice. Ava's heart sank as she saw the figure standing before her. It was the one person she had been trying to avoid. "Hello, Ava," the figure said, its voice dripping with familiarity. "It's been a long time." Ava's eyes widened as she took in the figure's features. It was someone she knew, someone she had trusted. But how was this possible? "Elijah?" she whispered, her voice shaking with confusion and fear. The figure before her smiled, and Ava's world came crashing down. It was Elijah, but not the Elijah she knew. This Elijah's eyes were cold and calculating, devoid of the warmth and kindness she had grown to love. "You're wondering how to believe me," Ava said, her voice barely above a whisper. The Elijah before her chuckled. "Believe me, Ava," he said. "I'm not the one you think I am. I'm something more. Something powerful." Ava's mind was reeling. She didn't know what was going on or what Elijah's true intentions were. But she knew one thing - she had to get out of there, and fast. "Why are you doing this?" Ava asked, trying to keep her voice steady. Elijah's smile grew wider. "Because, Ava," he said. "I'm the one who's been playing you all along. And you, my dear, are the key to unlocking my true potential." Ava's heart sank as Elijah's eyes locked onto hers. She knew that she was in grave danger, and she didn't know if she would ever escape. The darkness closed in around her, and Ava knew that she was running out of time. She had to think fast, or she would be trapped forever... As Ava stared into Elijah's cold eyes, she felt a chill run down her spine. She couldn't believe that the man she trusted had been playing her all along. "You used me," Ava said, her voice barely above a whisper. Elijah's smile grew wider. "I did what was necessary," he said. "And now, you're going to help me unlock my true potential." Ava's mind was racing. She knew she had to think fast if she wanted to escape. She looked around the room, trying to take in every detail. That's when she saw it - a small window high above the ground. It was her only hope. With a burst of adrenaline, Ava launched herself at Elijah, determined to create a distraction. The two of them clashed, and Ava managed to break free. She sprinted towards the window and dove through it, landing hard on the ground outside. She scrambled to her feet and took off running, not daring to look back. As she ran, Ava heard Elijah's angry shout echoing through the night. She knew she had to keep moving if she wanted to stay alive.
