AGONY OF A FATED MATE

CHAPTER THREE

Aurora's POV

I woke up to the sound of my head pounding against the floor. Groggily, I sat up, looking around the unfamiliar room. Where was I?

Alicia's face appeared above me, her smile twisted.

"You're in our room, sis. You had a bit too much to drink."

I tried to stand, but my legs felt like jelly. Alicia helped me up, guiding me to the bed.

"What...what happened?" I asked, my voice slurred.

Alicia's grin grew wider. "You don't remember? That's okay. You'll find out soon enough."

My mind racing, I tried to piece together the events of the night. But everything remained fuzzy.

Suddenly, Alicia's phone buzzed. She glanced at the screen, her expression changing.

"I have to go," she said, rushing out of the room.

I collapsed onto the bed, my head spinning. What had Alicia done?

Waking up back to life, seeing everything that was happening, I could feel my entire body feeling weak. What has she done to me? I asked myself.

I tried to stand up on my feet, walking out, feeling my body tired. I glanced through, seeing people walking inside and all. What was happening? I asked myself, seeing the decorations and everything.

The door creaked open, "What's happening?" I asked Alicia, whose facial expression was not the same as the other day.

"Oh, come on, it's your wedding," she smirked. I scoffed, with curiosity all over me.

"My wedding?" I muttered the words, was it time, I asked curiously.

"Yes..." Alicia's voice sounded harsh but a fake smile spread across her lips. "Why the sudden change, Alicia?" I asked her, looking at her reaction.

Get dressed," she uttered, walking out of the room. Some maidens walked in with my dress.

Seated in front of the mirror with the powder puffing on my cheek, and everything looking all glamorous, dressed in the glamorous dress, the bells chimed as we walked towards the passage.

Everything happened so fast, trying to recollect what had happened, what was going on that night, Alicia gave me an evil grin. Lots of thoughts running through my mind.

Walking down the altar, my father's hand went off me, seeing Orion's face, my eyes scanned through the room looking for Alicia but she was nowhere to be found.

A sense of anxiety all over me, ‘’Do you accept Alicia as your beloved mate?’’ the priest asked Orion, a thick silence occurred.

Before he could lift his lips, the door opened wide, Alicia dressed in a beautiful gown, murmurs were being raised in the entire room, everyone looking at what was going on.

‘’Alicia’’ I managed to utter looking dumbfounded at the altar by what she was going to do, Alicia clapped her hands.

‘’Surprise everyone,’’ she smirked, ‘’What are you doing?’’ I shook my head profusely with tears all coming down my face.

‘’I trusted you,’’ I managed to say those words.

‘’She doesn't deserve to marry Orion, a lady without a good reputation does not deserve to marry such a reputable family,’’ she yelled, her voice pouring venom.

‘’What did you mean by that?’’ Mom's voice interrupted.

"Mom, you need to see this. No, I mean everyone needs to see what a despicable person she is," she murmured, clapping her hands, standing dumbfounded.

"Here you go," she said, as she set up the film projector. The images flickered to life on the screen, and my body shivered. Tears streamed down my face, feeling betrayed and stabbed in the back.

‘’I swear to the moon goddess that's not me,’’ I vowed, shaking my head profusely, ‘’no,’’ I kept repeating, instead Alicia laughed out loud, mocking, which got me angry, moving closer to her, I wanted to slap her hand, but instead got pushed.

‘’You are so shameless and a disappointment to us,’’ my stepmother yelled at me in front of everyone.

‘’Father, you need to believe I was drugged,’’ I said, looking into my father's eyes, which he carried away from me.

I felt rejected, I ran over to Alicia, ‘’Tell them it's a lie, Alicia,’’ I pleaded, she looked at me with an evil grin, ‘’ohh come you slut,’’ she pushed me away feeling helpless.

‘’Enough,’’ Orion's voice sounded, making everyone staggered.

‘’I won't watch you embarrass my mate right in front of me. I do not care about whatever is reputable or not, but this wedding must hold,’’ he said lastly. I didn't know if I should feel happy or sad, the disgrace I brought on my family was nothing to write home about.

‘’But come on, Orion, I have told you, she is nothing but a slut,’’ she uttered again, ‘’enough, Alicia! I have had enough of your drama already,’’ he responded back at her, like his response got her more and more angry.

‘’I, son of the Alpha Dane, the next to be alpha of the New Moon Kingdom, I choose Aurora as my mate,’’ he said, dragging me into a kiss, kissing me passionately. I could feel my wolf excited at the same time, what was happening, why did he accept all like that?

His kisses were so familiar, his hands around my waist felt so familiar it gave me a blurry moment that I tried to recollect but couldn't.

“No, I promise to get my revenge back,” Alicia shouted, ‘’it's fine,” Orion whispered, finally cutting from the kiss.

“A new wedding where I will diligently accept her as my mate will come up,” he announced and a round of applause happened.

Walking out away from there, my body shivered in fear inside the carriage with Orion.

“Why did you save me?” I asked him, curious to know.

He hit his knuckles, “I had to do it, okay,” he gritted his teeth together, “I just can't get why I'm involved in all this mess,” he said, filled with curiosity.

“What did you mean by that?” I asked again, he gritted his teeth together, ‘’That's me in the video with you, I don't understand how!!!” he yelled out.

“You were the one,” I muffled in shock.
