"Andrea Alexander!" She flinches then she rubs her ears that's ringing from the yelling. Gosh. This old man's yelling is getting louder day by day. Andrea folded her arms, sighs and rolled her eyes with annoyance while looking at the old man in front of her, her father. "This is the fifth time this week. What the hell is going on with you?" Her father demanded, his voice shaking with anger. Andrea looked down on the floor, feeling the weight of her father's gaze on her. She couldn't bring herself to meet his eyes. "I just need some freedom, Dad." she mumbled. Alexander snorted. "Freedom? You want freedom? Don't you remember what happened years ago to you?! You think you'll be safe?" Andrea felt the surge of frustration. She knew that he would talk about that again but to think that her father didn't understand what she was going through. Make her feel like a prisoner on hold. She tried to explain, but her father cut her off immediately before she could speak. "You think you'll be fine alone out there? In a world that is full of unknown and dangerous things. Well, I'm sorry to break it to you but looks like you'll be stuck in this house til I say so. You have everything you could ever get, and yet you're still unhappy! What more do you want me to do?" Andrea felt tears pricking at the corner of her eyes. She couldn't help but feel like her father didn't care about what she wanted at all. All he cared about was how to keep her still in this house. She stood up and looked him straight in the eyes. "I know what I want, Dad! I want to be free and happy! I want to live my own life and make my own choices!" Alexander glared at her, his face twisted in anger. "And what kind of life do you think you can have out there in the real world? Do you think you'll be safe forever? You think those people that did bad things to you years ago won't do it again?" Andrea felt a lump form in her throat. She knew that her father was right , but she can't help but feel suffocated being trapped like this. For years. She wants to explore more than just what they have in this big empty house; she wants to learn other things like a normal kid would. She knew better that neither one of them was willing to back down from this argument because she knows how high her father's ego is and how stubborn she is. She gathered all the courage that she had left and walked close to her father. She looked straight to her father's face with her eyes filled with anger and said, "Because I feel like a prisoner being in this house rather than my home." "Andrea!" She flinched as the old man yelled and hit the table. He takes a deep breath and continues to talk as he tries to control his emotions. "You are grounded." He said while pointing his fingers at her. Andrea getting more furious. "Oh yeah? Keep locking me in here. Do it like how you do it with mom. Maybe that's why she left you too!" Without realising, Alexander slapped Andrea on the cheek. Hard that it leaves a red mark on her cheek. Andrea was stunned. She touched her cheek. It feels hot and painful. As she looks at her father, she looks like she's about to cry. There's a hint of tears in her eyes filled with sadness. "As I thought so." She grabs her purse on the couch and leaves with a broken heart. Alexander was stunned with himself too. He realised that he made a big mistake on his daughter. He then gets back to his chair and lean against it. He felt guilty about the fact that he slapped his only daughter like that. He sighs heavily while rubbing his head. "Oh, Andrea." *** She slammed the door and cried on her pillow. Her father never hurt her before. Not even in her entire life. He usually spews some hurtful words but this time, it hurts like hell. Andrea had always been a free spirit. She loved the thrill of adventure and the rush of adrenaline that came with it. But her carefree lifestyle had come to an abrupt end when she was kidnapped 5 years ago. The experience had left her shaken and terrified, and her father had decided that enough was enough. He even assigned her, her own private bodyguard and it was that guy, Xavier, to protect her at all costs. Andrea was less than thrilled when her father gave out the idea of her having a bodyguard that will follow her every move. She was used to being free and alone and she didn't like about the fact that some stranger hovering over her every second. But her father was insistent, and Andrea knew better than to argue with him. Xavier was everything Andrea didn't want in a bodyguard. He was tall, broad-shouldered, and had a seduction expression that made Andrea's skin crawl. And most of it all, he was too good at catching her every time she tries to leave. Andrea let out a big sigh, feeling more frustrated than ever before. She knew that her father meant well, but sometimes it felt like he didn't trust her enough to make her own decisions. She's not even a little girl anymore like she used to be. She hoped that eventually, she could find a way to live her life without feeling like she was constantly being watched by someone else's shadow. *** Andrea just finished with her morning swim and now she is laying on the pool lounge chair in her bikini. As she takes a sip of her orange juice, the head maid walks to her and bow his head. "Good morning, Miss Andrea." Andrea sits up, puts her glasses down and looks at the head maid. "Oh, good morning to you too, Mel. Is my dad already went out?" She asked. "Yes. Also, the Master is leaving you some message too." She lifted her right eyebrows. "Oh, then let's hear it out. What's the message?" "You need to go and get ready then you'll know what the message is, Miss Andrea." Andrea feels something is happening but she's too tired to ask anymore questions. She wears her robe and walks to her room. As she's in her room, she was surprised and confused. Some of their maids are busy cleaning out her clothes and so on. She turns around and looks at Melvin standing behind her with confusion. "What's the meaning of all this, Melvin?" Melvin, the head maid cleared his throat then looked at Andrea with a serious face. "I, Melvin. The head maid hereby tells you that Master Alexander Felix is asking you, Miss Andrea Alexander, to be sent to Country X as Master's representative on an upcoming big business event. Master wants you to learn how to become a businesswoman there. Your father is counting on you as the heir of your family's empire." Andrea was shocked. "What?!" To be continued...
