CH10-: Celestial Game Hunt

**Chapter 10: The Disciples of Twilight** The darkness over the mountains deepened as Yuuto and Lyra trekked toward the border of the mortal realm. The Celestial App pulsed dimly in Yuuto's pocket, the light flickering like a heartbeat. They had spent days deciphering the clues left behind by the winged statues, and everything pointed to the Veiled Gate—a mythical place said to lie between worlds, guarded by those who called themselves the Disciples of Twilight. The wind howled through the dead pines as night fell. The world seemed to hold its breath. Yuuto glanced at Lyra, whose bow shimmered with runes, strung and ready. Her expression had grown sharper with each mile, her usual grace now tinged with battle-readiness. "You feel it too?" Yuuto asked, halting at a fork in the trail. Lyra nodded. "We're being watched." A soft crunch of leaves broke the silence. Yuuto spun, eyes narrowing, hand hovering over the Celestial Feather pendant around his neck. Shadows moved with purpose beyond the trees, but there were no figures to catch, no presence to confront—just whispers in the dark. Then they came. Figures cloaked in twilight-colored robes emerged from the mist, their faces hidden behind obsidian masks. Each one carried a weapon marked with ancient glyphs. The leader stepped forward, taller than the rest, and removed his mask. His eyes were silver, and his skin shimmered faintly like stardust. "Yuuto Kamizaki," he said. "Bearer of the Fallen Feather. You stand on sacred ground." Yuuto tensed. "You know who I am?" The man gave a nod. "We know what you carry. And what it can awaken." "We're not here to awaken anything," Lyra said coldly. "We're searching for answers." The man smiled. "All answers come at a cost." In an instant, the Disciples moved. Their attacks were like waves of dusk, coordinated and relentless. Yuuto barely had time to raise his arm before a shimmering barrier flared around him—Lyra had activated her Sigil of Protection. She loosed a volley of arrows that exploded into bursts of starlight, scattering two Disciples to the wind. Yuuto dodged to the left, drawing on the App to summon his Astral Blade. It materialized in his grip, humming with energy. He parried a blow, ducked under another, and rolled into a counter-strike that disarmed one of the attackers. His stats had grown—he felt faster, more fluid, more... attuned. "They’re testing us!" he shouted. "This isn’t to kill!" Lyra knocked another arrow. "Then let's pass their test." With synchronized strikes, they pushed back the Disciples. Every movement felt choreographed, as if the fight was not chaos but a ritual. And then, just as quickly as it began, it stopped. The silver-eyed leader raised his hand. The others froze. "You have passed," he said, voice steady. Yuuto frowned, panting. "What... what was that?" "A trial. Few bearers survive. You fought with unity, resolve, and purpose. Traits we require." Lyra lowered her bow. "Require for what?" The man turned, gesturing for them to follow. "The truth. Come. The Veiled Gate awaits." As they walked, the trees thinned, and moonlight spilled across a clearing where an ancient stone archway stood. The Veiled Gate. Its surface rippled like liquid glass, inscriptions glowing faintly. Beyond it lay another sky—one filled with stars Yuuto had never seen. "This is the true hunt," the Disciple said. "Beyond this gate lies the heart of the conflict—a world not of gods or mortals, but of echoes." Yuuto stared. "Echoes?" "Pieces of forgotten realities. Things the gods sealed away. Including the origin of your Feather." Lyra touched the arch gently. Her voice softened. "So this is where the gods kept their secrets." The leader nodded. "Only those chosen by the Celestial Hunt may pass. We will not follow." Yuuto glanced at the App. A new message blinked: [New Area Unlocked: Echo Realm] [Warning: Power levels beyond current capacity. Proceed with caution.] He looked to Lyra. Her eyes held fear and hope in equal measure. He stepped forward, hand outstretched. "Then let's see where this road leads." Together, they crossed the threshold. And everything changed. ---
