Chapter 4: The Misunderstanding

Narrator: One day, Lilei's cousin was in a heated argument with Ethan. Lilei had no idea what the reason was, so she decided to spy on both of them. She asked her friends if they knew what happened, but unfortunately, they were clueless too. Lilei wanted to bring peace between them because their fighting was affecting the entire group.

She approached her cousin and asked him what was wrong. However, he didn't reply to her question. Lilei then suggested, "Is it because Ethan has a crush on Luna?" Reynold, surprised, asked Lilei if it was true. Lilei assumed that Reynold already knew about Ethan's crush and that it was the reason for their fight. But she was mistaken and didn't reply.

Reynold, frustrated, exclaimed, "So it's really true? He not only took my racket but also has feelings for the girl I like? Is he that selfish?" Lilei didn't intend to make the situation worse. In her mind, she regretted jumping to conclusions so quickly and blamed herself, thinking, "I hate you, stupid mouth. I wish I didn't assume things so hastily."

Lilei admitted, "Um, no, I was wrong. I just thought that Ethan had a crush on Luna." Reynold, still angry, stormed out of the living room. Lilei realized that she had caused too much trouble and scratched her head in frustration.

On the weekend, Lilei's friends decided to go to the beach, but Reynold didn't join them. They asked Ethan what was going on between him and Reynold. Ethan confessed that it was all because he had broken Reynold's badminton racket. Ava reassured everyone, saying, "He'll move on quickly. He's rich and can buy another badminton racket." The group agreed, but Lilei remained silent.

Lily noticed Lilei's quietness and asked her what was wrong. Lilei couldn't bear the guilt anymore, so she decided to tell them the real reason. Ethan, surprised, denied ever saying that he had a crush on Luna. Lilei was shocked by his response. Lucas asked, "Then who is it?" Ethan smirked and replied, "It's a secret."

Benjamin, curious, urged Ethan to tell them. Ethan playfully responded, "It wouldn't be a secret if I told you guys." Lily, starting to get delusional, began to think that Ethan's secret crush was her. Lilei noticed Lily's flushed face and asked, "Are you okay, Lily? Why do you look like a tomato?" Lily was startled by Lilei's question.

Lilei then guessed, "I guess you have a crush on Ethan, right?" Lily panicked and pleaded with Lilei, "Shh... they might hear you! They don't know. Please, keep it a secret, okay? Otherwise, we won't be friends anymore." Lilei chuckled and agreed to keep Lily's secret.

As the days went by, tensions between Reynold and Ethan seemed to ease. They started talking again and even played badminton together. Lilei was relieved to see that her efforts to bring peace were paying off. However, she couldn't help but wonder who Ethan's secret crush was.

One afternoon, while hanging out at a cafe, Lilei mustered up the courage to ask Ethan about his secret crush. Ethan grinned mischievously and said, "Well, since you've been so persistent, I'll give you a hint. Her name starts with an 'L'.". But before he could say anything, Lily blurted out, "Is it me?"

Ethan burst into laughter and replied, "No, Lily, it's not you. Sorry to disappoint you, hahah." Lily blushed and playfully punched Ethan's arm. Hahaha, you two looked funny with each other. Lily blushed and smiled.

Lilei, "now I'll be your supporter". Lily chuckled.

Days turned into weeks, and the group's bond grew stronger. Lilei and Lily kept their friendship intact, with Lilei occasionally teasing Lily about her crush on Ethan. Lily would playfully laugh, she just couldn't deny the fluttering feelings she had whenever she was around him.

One evening, while sitting on the beach with the sunset painting the sky in vibrant hues, Lilei found herself lost in her thoughts. She realized that sometimes misunderstandings can lead to unexpected discoveries and that it's important to communicate openly and honestly.

Lilei made a silent promise to herself to be more careful with her words and assumptions in the future.
