Lilei felt uneasy about the way Ethan stared at her. She wanted to express her discomfort to him, but she ultimately decided against it, fearing that it might hurt Ethan's feelings. One morning, Roxy and Lilei found themselves alone in the house while their friends went out to buy snacks for their movie night.
Roxy took this opportunity to confide in Lilei. "I find Eyrone interesting and charming," Roxy admitted.
Lilei raised an eyebrow. "So, what are you planning to do? Should you confess your feelings to him?"
Roxy hesitated for a moment before answering, "No, I don't think it's the right time yet."
Lilei nodded understandingly. "Okay, I'll wait for the right moment then."
Later that evening, during the movie night, Ethan saved a seat for Lilei. Sensing an opportunity, Lilei asked Ethan if they could talk privately in another room.
Ethan eagerly agreed, his eyes filled with anticipation. "Sure, Lilei. What did you want to talk about?"
Lilei took a deep breath, gathering her thoughts. "Ethan, to be honest, I feel really uncomfortable around you."
Ethan's smile faded, and he looked puzzled. "What do you mean? I thought we were getting closer."
Lilei hesitated for a moment before continuing, "It's just the way you act around me sometimes. It makes me feel uneasy, like you're expecting something more than friendship."
Ethan's expression turned serious, and he looked hurt. "But I thought you liked me too. We've been spending so much time together."
Lilei sighed, trying to find the right words. "I do like you, Ethan, but only as a friend. I never showed any signs of romantic affection towards you."
Ethan's disappointment was evident in his voice. "So, everything was just an act? All those treats and gestures?"
Lilei shook her head, feeling the weight of the situation. "No, Ethan. It wasn't an act. The treats and gestures were meant for both of us as friends. Lily asked me to give them to you."
Ethan's confusion grew. "So, you're saying that I just assumed you liked me?"
Lilei nodded sadly. "Yes, Ethan. I'm sorry if I unintentionally gave you the wrong impression. But I want you to understand that I only see you as a friend. I hope you can respect my feelings and give me some space."
Ethan stood there, speechless and hurt. Lilei could see the disappointment in his eyes. "If you truly understand and respect my feelings, then thank you. I'll leave now."
With that, Lilei walked away, leaving Ethan to contemplate their conversation and the realization that their feelings were not mutual.
