Nico savored Jamie’s weight against him, then he scooped him up and laid him on the bench, removed his own coat and draped it over Jamie’s shoulders and back. Piter made an impatient sound behind him, demanding attention. Nico drew a steadying breath. This wouldn’t be easy, despite what he’d made Jamie believe. Straightening, he took a moment to look at the silver blanket of clouds and the glittering fog gathering around them. The night was turning bitterly cold, and Nico rejoiced in the icy sting against his skin. It made him feel alive, human. He wanted this for himself as well as Jamie, the chance at a normal life, free of nightmares. But first he would have to say good-bye to Piter.
