4. Dinner time

"So Nim, what can we do around here in our spare time?" - I asked her, but she furrowed her brows and shrugged. "I don't know. I'm not the most people's person. I like to keep to myself." "Ok, we will work on that. Don't worry, no friend of mine will stay home on the weekend." - I gave her a wink and she just rolled her eyes. "You should unpack." - she told me "Unpack? My stuff isn't here yet." "Yes they are, did you miss it in the living room?" I looked around and in fact behind a couch were my boxes and suitcases. "Cool, I love the services around here." - I said happily getting one of the boxes. "Oh and Nica, please keep your s**t together, I like to keep our common space tidy." I mocked her with a salute and went to my room singing 'Hotel California' under my nose. I know, I know it's ancient for most, but my Dad made sure I know what a great music is all about, so as to my personal taste there are no kind and age boundaries. I placed my clothes in the closet, which was a decent size. Put my favorite photos on my desk. I brought with me my personal favourites, one of my parents looking deep into one another's eyes, one with all five of us from last year's Christmas. We all had goofy Santa hats and were laughing, it was a great memory. The last one was of me and my friends, we were all covered in mud after training. I was in the middle and under each of my arms I had one of them. Martha on the right and Tommy on the left. Tommy is the same age as my brother, so he came here here last year, and I missed him like crazy. He's this sweet guy who always tried to tame my and Martha's stupid ideas, but alway eded up helping us in whatever we came up with. I often hoped that those two would become Mates, because they're perfect for each other, but I guess that's not my place to suggest it. When I was done with my room I took my toiletries and went with it to our bathroom. "All done." - I said to Nim who was reading a book on a couch. She was holding a bottle of water and frankly saying she always had one in hand, another weird thing about her. She gave me a thumbs up sign not even looking up from her reading. "Dinner will be served in about half an hour." - she announced. "Sweet, I'll take a quick shower and we can go together if you don't mind?" "Sure." I hopped into the shower and refreshed myself really quick. I put on black yoga pants and white T-shirt with 'Who's your Daddy?' - written on it. I put my shoulder length honey blond hair into a messy bun and went out of the bathroom. Nim looked at me and raised her eyebrows but didn't say a thing. "Ready?" - I asked her, and she just nodded. We went downstairs next to the great hall in which the Headmaster greeted us was the biggest dining area I ever saw. There were hundreds of tables and some of them were already taken. I spotted dark blond short messy hair resembling my own in some way, and I started dragging Nim with me. "Oh Vinny!" - I yell making most of the room burst in laughter. My brother turned around and as soon as he saw me his brown warm eyes lightened. "Look everybody, it's Queen of the Damned, she's been here four hours and hasn't been expelled yet. Colin, you lost a bet." - my brother said, giving me a bone crushing hug. "Mister Ryan, did you bet against me?" - I turned to Colin with a fake hurt gesture. "You know me Princess, I'm always supporting a winning side. It's good to have you here, this place can be so dull." - he said with a wink. Colin is my brother's future Beta, and he has always been such a sweetheart to me. I do realize that this soft spot is caused by his hots for me, but he's already 18 and I'm not his fated mate, so it ain't gonna happen. " Guys, let me introduce to you my new friend and roommate: Nim. Nim, these are my dear Pack members. This hot blond stud is my flesh and blood: Vincent Cargarough. This traitorous Redhead is Colin Ryan. Brunette over there is Jessica Braun, our future Gamma. But those two are really important. This beautiful girl is my best friend Martha Cook and this handsome guy is my second best friend: Tommy Martinez. He has a latina roots which I find really appealing." Jess narrowed her eyes at me, and I don't know what's her deal, but who cares. Everyone sends a quick 'Hi' towards Nim. Tommy stood up from his seat and gave me a hug, but not as warm as the one from Vinc. "What's up Tommy? You look broody, everything's ok?" - I asked my best friend. "Everything's fine Nica, don't worry. I was thinking about the book I've read. So Nim, we take the same medicine classes. How do you find them? Are you planning on becoming a Doctor?" - he was clearly trying to change a subject but I let it go for now, as we had too many ears around us. " I haven't decided yet, but I think that those are the most useful classes available." - Nim said, and I was shocked, I was expecting her to remain silent for the whole meal. "If you're my sister roommate that makes you an Alpha by blood, right?" - Vince asked Nim "Why, is that important? I wouldn't be welcome by your table if I were Omega?" - she said defensively. Vince looked at Nim taken aback. "No, but I wanted to get to know you, it seems that you'll be spending a lot of time with Nica. Sorry if I offended you." - he clarified his intention. "You didn't offend me. I just think that ranks are total bullshit. Not every wolf with Alpha bloodline should lead a Pack. Therefore judging people by something what isn't even their accomplishment is idiotic." - Nim said, still expressionless. "Wait, so you're saying that ranks have no sense? That's insane." - Colin said shocked "No, I'm simply implying that it shouldn't be the first thing that matters to anybody as soon as you meet someone. Omega can have a more interesting personality than let's say a Beta. It's simply archaic like monarchy. Bunch of stuck ups who think highly of themselves." - she said, giving Colin a pointed look. "Oh snap!" - me and Martha started laughing. "That's something that a weakling would say." - Colin smirked. Nim facial expressions changed to an angry one and I could feel her releasing her aura. Everyone at our table besides Vince and me lower their heads feeling the power radiating from this tiny girl. She quickly shot her channel and stood up composing herself. "I see you upstairs Nica." - and she left our table. Everyone looked at her walking away with an open mouth. "Damn, who's that girl?" - asked Martha. "My new friend, I told you." - I answered simply. I didn't want to continue this topic, but to be totally honest I stand by her 100% on this one. And I should say that this outburst was epic!
