CHAPTER 2 AT THE HOSPITAL

Immediately l rushed inside my room with a pull of blood my neighbour Ogechi who saw me rushed me instantly and saw how blood was gushing out from my ear and legs she quickly rushed and called the chemist who came along with his first aid tools I was given the first aid before I was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Getting to the hospital the doctor in charge reject me, Ogechi and the chemist begged him on my behalf before he accepted to admit me in the hospital.

I was in the hospital for complete two weeks after carrying out some tests the doctor told me that I was lucky that if I waste time the shock could have resulted in another else.

That I should go and thank my God and those that brought me here.

After sometimes I regain my strength and energy, during that period of illness Ogechi has been busy preparing food for me and other things to make sure that I'm okay.

During the time of my discharge, I feel like staying back because of the delicious meal Ogechi and other people who came to see me have been bringing, but I have no option other than to go back home who would love to stay in the hospital.

Ogechi paid the hospital bill with a little contribution from some of my friends, if not for them the doctor and nurse for ha e cease me but I thank God for their solidarity.

645pm I was at home some of my neighbours came to sympathise with me some came with fruits and money while some didn't come with anything at all.

That moment of my sickness seems to be the best moment of my life because I feel loved most especially from Ogechi. I never knew that this kind of kindness was still in existence until this ugly phenomenon happened.

I used the money that they contributed to go to the market and buy foodstuffs for two weeks I never go hungry.

After some weeks I went to meet Ogechi to thank her for all the good things she has been doing. Her kindness is immeasurable despite she is not my girlfriend but she behaves like one. Ogechi is a beautiful girl, she is tall and dark she has everything a man could want in a woman.

in terms of wife material, she is number one according to my classification. I knocked at her door but there is no response I knocked the second time she ask with a very soft voice. Her voice sounds like a voice of an angel. about all these attributes didn't move me because I only take her as a friend.

I responded is me, John.

Oh! John, please be patient I'm coming.

I waited for over 30 seconds before she opened the door for me.

I was outside she ordered me to come inside the room.

I dashed in and set on the plastic chair that was located opposite her bed. Her room was well decorated with wallpaper with a comfortable smell she is the richest tenant in that apartment.

She went in and brought out a well-chilled plastic soft drink with snacks I thank her I can't say thanks because within me I was hungry I can leave anything eatable to pass me by at that moment.

I was still admiring the beauty of her room before she throw a question at me.

So John whom do I owe this August visit.

Huh......

I feel like I didn't hear what she said because my mind is somewhere else frustration and overthinking has been eating me up. Sometimes, I feel like giving up on the ghost.

There was a time a spirit came to me and ask me to give up I wanted to do that before I heard a noise on the door I went out to know who could that be but I didn't see anyone so I got tired I locked my door and went out that knock saved me.

She asked me the second time.

I stammered a bit and said.

Oge, which is short for Ogechi, I came to thank you for the things you have been doing for me especially during my critical time I can't thank you enough. Without you I have been a dead man by now you are God sent.

She came closer to me hold my hands my heartbeat increases my body temperature begin to rise because I have not felt loved that way before.

She looked into my eyes and said John I love you. You are a good man. Whatever you need I shall provide them for you so far I have them don't worry it shall be fine just focus all these are the journey of life. Remember he that laugh the last laugh the best, so be patient God is in control.

Her advice makes me strong again. I start to imagine if a girl could have this can of a mindset, what about me the man I feel happy all over me.

I asked her to find me a job. She assures me that she will do that once she goes to work tomorrow.

I was excited because soon I will get a job of mine.

The next day I meet her outside where she was hanging her already washed clothes I asked her about the job we talked about yesterday. she said her madam said that there is no vacant position now unless I will like to wash the plate.

I feel annoyed, plates? I shouted

Ogechi was looking at me as I shouted plate.

Yes of course plate if you can wash plates I will go and tell her just tell me now let me know what I'm doing because she said she needs a reply tomorrow that if you are not interested in the job that she will get another person for the work. That a lot of people has been coming for it but she leaves it vacant because of me.

So what do you have to say about this?

I stood like a lamb that is ready for a sacrifice I don't know what to say because I was happy and annoyed at the same time.

She asked me again, what do you think? Are you in or out.

I murmured, I will get back to you I said angrily.
