Daylight is barely a rumor when Olivia slips out of bed, careful not to disturb the weight of silence hanging over the apartment. Her feet find the rug in the dark. For one dizzy second she just stands there, eyes closed, waiting for the rush behind them to settle. Her shirt clings damply to the center of her back. She peels it off and trades it for a washed-thin black turtleneck, tugging the sleeves down over her hands. Every movement feels rehearsed. Measured. Controlled.
