While the Constable and Willy made their way to the Stickles farm, a small group of men, including Hawks, Daniel and two other men who worked for the Squire, proceeded across the open moor toward Exeter with the bodies of the two dead officers appointed by Dr Miles. Checking their belongings, they found their names to be, Tom Muddleridge and William Tallot. Their journey was long but uneventful.
