“You are certain that this is what you want, right?" Cayden asked me as we pulled up outside the courthouse. “We'll be going up against your father in court. I've been doing it for a while but this would be your first time and I know what he can be like…especially to you."
I knew what he could be like. I knew that this was not going to be easy. But I needed to do this to prove to him that I had the potential to be an asset in court to whomever I am working for or with.
Besides, Cayden had already pulled a lot of strings and called in a few dozen favors just to let me have a seat in this case. It was incredibly high profile and would be televised; there would be no better way to get noticed by the firm and every law school in the country.
