Rose POV
Thomas was happy to see all of his siblings in one place to support him through his time of need. However, he could not fully hide the air of melancholy at the fact that he had lost his right leg and that his left leg may never work the way it had before. He tried his best to hide it with his usual jovial antics and humor, but we all felt the weight of it. Even Carol had been uncharacteristically civil throughout our little reunion at the hospital.
I wanted to stay a while longer. I felt as though I had not had a chance like this, to be with my family without Victor keeping us at odds with each other, in a long time. Even though it was a tragedy that had brought us together in one place, we were still here, and it was something that needed to be appreciated.
